I’m Irish, born and raised, but my family are English, so I’ve lived here forever and still find some customs and traditions confusing (ie: 3 day funeral thing, refusing a cup of tea when you’ve been offered one even though you want one because it’s rude to admit you want tea, general having-to-go-to-things-because-otherwise-the-neighbours-will-talk nonsense)

Is it just me or are the only socially acceptable topics work or education related, future plans about career goals or having children, the weather recently and forecasts in the near future, topics related to graduating college or university, marriage and things like health & fitness goals, "grinding" and stuff like that? Like man, health problems are a major human issues and it's like god forbid we be disabled and talk about what problems it causes or tell people we're gay or mentally ill. Like why does stigma and discrimination still exist? And racism and stuff? Like I truly do not understand bro.

I remember when I first saw this video a year ago. My mother called me upstairs and started talking to me about how a store had started limiting who could buy their clothes. This came to an insecure teenager who was struggling already with the fact that all of the models in pictures, and displays in store fronts were filled with skinny women. To then hear that a company was making it impossible for people above a certain (not actually that big at all) size made me really sad. I think that the message of self-worth is a really important one, and when people have to swim through the millions of expectations that society leaves us with every day, it is hard to have any sense of it.

If you know someone in your life who is insecure, maybe tell them how much they matter. Don’t mention size, or shape...just make them feel worth something. You never know how much you might have just done for someone.

What if sizes were not numbers? (I think I saw a commercial about that once)

Dating is so hard for me because it literally makes me nauseous. And I keep trying to "put myself out there" and "just have fun" because people keep telling me I should but the minute someone starts talking to me or tries to give me their number I get physically upset, I just hate dating so much. Idk why I keep trying it.
