Out & About 17 & 18 February 2017 Friday was the perfect morning to be outside in the cool breeze and sunshine. The Husb’s car was booked for a service so I went with him and we walked the 5km home from the auto centre. In the evening we attended the annual Ride For Youth Sundowner In The Quad to raise money for Youth Focus. It was a perfect still and sultry evening, with lots of smiles and the Happy Buddhas band revving the vibe. (Should have worn sneakers though - lawd I loathe heels and stupid girly ‘shoes’ - my feet were dying.)
Come 05:00am Saturday, I was feeling weary after a big week, with two nights out, so didn’t expect the swag of Strava achievements I earned on this morning’s short 36km hills ride, especially as the wind was more often against me. Gee it was beautiful in the Pickering Brook area. I like to stop to smell the metaphorical roses, and today I paused to breathe in an apple orchard before tackling the next hill.
I wore my Not-Valentines-Day socks, which match my @cycologygear kit like charms - and my new Mondrian shorts - the chamois gets the hills-ride thumbs up. The rest of my group went on to do an extra loop but I decided not to push it - I’ve been working hard and I need to manage my IBD sensibly - keep some spoons in reserve so to speak. On that subject, I got my infliximab levels test results back yesterday. At the end of the eight-week cycle, levels should be 3-6. Mine were 2.7 - hence the grumbling mini-flares. My specialist is going to apply to the pharmaceutical company for an additional free dose. Fingers crossed.
