On Soelil
Okay I know if any one is like me they’re sick of seeing the controversy surrounding this character and her support conversation with the male player character. I normally don’t like stepping in this stuff but I think this one is different. I’m going to try to sound as neutral as i possibly can, I am at a biased because I am a huge Nintendo fan and I think fire emblem is a great series, I just want to add that just in case that doesn't credit me somehow, but as I said I’m going to be as neutral as possible on this.
Okay first off we don’t know if the translation is true or not, but I understand why people are so enraged by this. Regardless if it’s true or not we have to remind ourselves that this a completely optional feature, you do not have to have this support conversation or even get the character. But it doesn't change the fact that this is still in the game I get that. We also have to remind ourselves that this is a support conversation, which are really dumb most of the time(see any support from FE:A). Every character has their own little quirk, in a game with so many characters you need those quirks to easily identify them, and Soelil’s happens to be fainting around cute girls, which is almost an opposite trait from her father. So the writers had to work with this right? Sure drugging her without her permission was probably not the best way to go about it but there’s been some pretty dumb supports in the past. Another thing I want to add is this is a very low amount of dialogue, I’d say less than 40 lines(just an estimate) and I have seen people brush of the whole game because of it, when the supports are just an extra feature, if you still like the series I urge you to continue but I digress. She is a bi character which is only available to males, which in my opinion is kind of wrong, but we have to remind ourselves that just a year ago Tomodachi Life came out and no gay relationships were aloud, so having two homosexual characters in the game is pretty progressive, and we need to take our victories where we can right?
I want to end by saying regardless how you feel about this it probably won’t make it in the American release(which will probably be the version most of us play), because there’s a huge cultural difference, a factor that not a lot of people have taken into account during this. I hoped this helped people see both sides and thank you for reading
