Sof's Top 10 2025 QL shows
Out of all the QL shows that finished in 2025 these 10 are my favorite. Enjoy!
🇹🇭 Khemjira
This show absolutely blew me away and I definitely did not expect to leave this show adoring the four main actors as much as I did. All four absolutely killed it and I can't wait to see them in future shows. This show also just let the plot, relationships and characters breathe. Everything was given the time it needed to unfold which made for such an engaging show. I especially appreciated how the story made space for all types of relationships and put them on the same level as romantic relationships. It just made the story even more rich and the stakes so much higher.
🇹🇼 See Your Love
This show just felt so kind and warm and down to earth. I loved how our two main characters found love and solace and safety in each other and their energy and dynamic fit perfectly with the more unserious and goofy second couple. I can easily see this be a comfort watch of mine that I'll keep returning to, even if the main plot seemed more like a prop that enabled the interactions and falling in love of the two pairings.
🇨🇳 Revenged Love
I don't even know how to explain why this show was so good. The plot was wild but there was just something so compelling about it and the characters. Like that seems to be something China just does well, they commit to the bit and put they're all into the show which just makes for such a compelling watch.
🇹🇭 My Stubborn
Boat and Oat absolutely ate in this show. Like their chemistry was just so good and you could really feel how the creators of this show had put a lot of effort and care into the NC scenes. The NC scenes added to the plot and didn't feel like a "one two punch" where they just followed a template on how to make an NC scene which also meant they never got boring because every new NC scene was different both in how they were constructed but also in the feelings and intentions the characters brought to them. This was a PWP but the actors and show itself owned it which is what made this show so good.
🇨🇳 ABO Desire
This was another example of how China takes a concept and commits to the bit. I still struggle with describing what it is China does so particularly well with their characters. Maybe it's that they do well with gray area and complex characters but without fail they get me invested in the characters and their relationships while rooting for the Most unhinged behavior and I love it. Also I'm just really impressed that they took the concept of ABO and created a ton of world building around it. Like they looked at Pit Babe and said "do you call that an ABO show?! Hold my tea and let me show you how it's really done".
🇹🇭 Lost in the Woods
I absolutely adored this show because it was such a funky little show with so much heart and absolute steeper in the nature of Northern Thailand which made for such a gorgeous show. It's sad that not more people gave it a chance but at least that pushed me to learn how to GIF because someone had to do it and I needed to expose more people to this show 😅
🇯🇵 Our Youth
This is what Japan does well but can I explain what that is, nope. The tension and chemistry between these two was just delicious and this show just made me ache in the best way. I love when worlds clash like this. There's just something about the school's bad boy and the straight A student worlds start intertwining.
🇨🇳 Secrets Happened on the Litchi Island
This was such a wonderful little artsy indie piece. I love these kinds of pieces of media when done well and this certainly is, in all its queer glory. This show also spoiled us with so many post show little clips that showed the main pairings domestic life after the show which was such a treat.
🇹🇭 Clairebell
I think this is the best Thai GL I've ever seen. I just loved how rich while also flawed the characters were and it was such an interesting plot. They could have easily made three more episodes so we could get a deeper plot line with all the characters of the show. Luckily it does seem like we're getting just that but just with special episodes.
🇹🇭 Gelboys
It's wild that this show was filmed entirely on a phone! I think that also says a lot about the show, that this was a vision that the creators had and it really shows. They did so well at committing to the concept of being young that it was almost painful to watch at times because the characters' pain and uncertainty just came across so well. I'm just glad I didn't have to grow up with as much social media as the characters did because that seemed like a nightmare.
Now that I've ruminated on why I love these particular shows so much it's clear that a lot of them have a bunch of things in common. Like they all stand out in how they feel unique because they chose a specific concept and then committed to it which makes them all feel like whole and cohesive shows both in terms of characters, relationships, sound, and visuals. They also all had rich characters who were allowed to be flawed.
