Are you also tired of scrolling past unrelated self insert fanfictions when searching for posts about a fandom/show?
Or are you trying to find posts about a weekly show but you're several episodes behind and don't want spoilers?
Look no further because I am here to bestow upon you the knowledge of how you can make the most of the tumblr search function!!
Search just the Tags
If you keep seeing unrelated posts to the fandom you're trying to search for, try searching just for tags by ending you search with:
match:tags
Your search input doesn't need to match the tags precisely but if you do want to search for specific tags just use quotation marks like
"ice cream" "quality content" match:tags
An alternative to match:tags is using # as
#ice cream #quality content
These search operators for searching just the tags are particularly useful because the reason you get unrelated posts like fanfiction in your search is because those posts contain a LOT of words and as such are very likely to contain your search words, but this way the wall of text isn't factored into your search!
Using the search function instead of the Tags search means you can also specify which types of posts you're looking for and what period of time you want to search by using the built-in "Filter by".
If you want to be even more specific about which time period you're searching, I've got just the tip for you!
Searching in time
I often use these when I'm watching an TV show but I'm behind the airing schedule so I don't want to see posts about newer episodes that I have yet to watch.
By defining which period of time you want to search within you can make sure to not see any posts posted after the date you choose.
This could for example be the date before the most recent episode you haven't seen of the show you're currently watching.
Search for posts within a time period by adding the dates you want to search between as
since:YYYY-MM-DD before:YYYY-MM-DD
@rythyme made a great post on how to get the "watch along" experience this way!
Specifically the dates seem to be according to your timezone and the search is including the "since" date but excluding the "before" date. Also you don't have to include both dates if you just want to search since a specific date and until now or before a certain date and as far back as possible.
You can also just search for a specific date or year by writing
date:YYYY-MM-DD or year:YYYY
Misc
And finally you can also specify which blog's posts you want to search for by adding this to your search
from:blog or from:@blog
Additionally to match:tags you can also use match:text instead to only search the text body of posts.
All these search operators should also work on people's blogs.
Out of all the QL shows that finished in 2025 these 10 are my favorite.
Enjoy!
🇹🇭 Khemjira
This show absolutely blew me away and I definitely did not expect to leave this show adoring the four main actors as much as I did. All four absolutely killed it and I can't wait to see them in future shows.
This show also just let the plot, relationships and characters breathe. Everything was given the time it needed to unfold which made for such an engaging show. I especially appreciated how the story made space for all types of relationships and put them on the same level as romantic relationships. It just made the story even more rich and the stakes so much higher.
🇹🇼 See Your Love
This show just felt so kind and warm and down to earth. I loved how our two main characters found love and solace and safety in each other and their energy and dynamic fit perfectly with the more unserious and goofy second couple. I can easily see this be a comfort watch of mine that I'll keep returning to, even if the main plot seemed more like a prop that enabled the interactions and falling in love of the two pairings.
🇨🇳 Revenged Love
I don't even know how to explain why this show was so good. The plot was wild but there was just something so compelling about it and the characters. Like that seems to be something China just does well, they commit to the bit and put they're all into the show which just makes for such a compelling watch.
🇹🇭 My Stubborn
Boat and Oat absolutely ate in this show. Like their chemistry was just so good and you could really feel how the creators of this show had put a lot of effort and care into the NC scenes. The NC scenes added to the plot and didn't feel like a "one two punch" where they just followed a template on how to make an NC scene which also meant they never got boring because every new NC scene was different both in how they were constructed but also in the feelings and intentions the characters brought to them.
This was a PWP but the actors and show itself owned it which is what made this show so good.
🇨🇳 ABO Desire
This was another example of how China takes a concept and commits to the bit. I still struggle with describing what it is China does so particularly well with their characters. Maybe it's that they do well with gray area and complex characters but without fail they get me invested in the characters and their relationships while rooting for the Most unhinged behavior and I love it.
Also I'm just really impressed that they took the concept of ABO and created a ton of world building around it. Like they looked at Pit Babe and said "do you call that an ABO show?! Hold my tea and let me show you how it's really done".
🇹🇭 Lost in the Woods
I absolutely adored this show because it was such a funky little show with so much heart and absolute steeper in the nature of Northern Thailand which made for such a gorgeous show.
It's sad that not more people gave it a chance but at least that pushed me to learn how to GIF because someone had to do it and I needed to expose more people to this show 😅
🇯🇵 Our Youth
This is what Japan does well but can I explain what that is, nope. The tension and chemistry between these two was just delicious and this show just made me ache in the best way. I love when worlds clash like this. There's just something about the school's bad boy and the straight A student worlds start intertwining.
🇨🇳 Secrets Happened on the Litchi Island
This was such a wonderful little artsy indie piece. I love these kinds of pieces of media when done well and this certainly is, in all its queer glory.
This show also spoiled us with so many post show little clips that showed the main pairings domestic life after the show which was such a treat.
🇹🇭 Clairebell
I think this is the best Thai GL I've ever seen. I just loved how rich while also flawed the characters were and it was such an interesting plot.
They could have easily made three more episodes so we could get a deeper plot line with all the characters of the show. Luckily it does seem like we're getting just that but just with special episodes.
🇹🇭 Gelboys
It's wild that this show was filmed entirely on a phone! I think that also says a lot about the show, that this was a vision that the creators had and it really shows.
They did so well at committing to the concept of being young that it was almost painful to watch at times because the characters' pain and uncertainty just came across so well.
I'm just glad I didn't have to grow up with as much social media as the characters did because that seemed like a nightmare.
Now that I've ruminated on why I love these particular shows so much it's clear that a lot of them have a bunch of things in common. Like they all stand out in how they feel unique because they chose a specific concept and then committed to it which makes them all feel like whole and cohesive shows both in terms of characters, relationships, sound, and visuals. They also all had rich characters who were allowed to be flawed.
I've finally watched all the GMMTV teaser trailers so I wanted to share my thoughts, at least on the BL trailers.
Since these are only teaser trailers and often the actual show is very different, in both good and bad ways, I've ranked all the trailers based on three things:
Concept: Do I find the premise of the story, the themes, the dynamics between the characters etc interesting and do I feel like it would be a good basis for a show.
Trailer: Did I like the vibe of the trailer, did it feel cohesive and like the trailer itself drew me in.
Pairing: This is a mix of how I already felt about the pairing and how the pairing come across in the trailer (did they act well and have chemistry).
To focus on the good stuff I'll keep just my top 10 above the cut and if you want a sneak peek into my ranking I did a tier list here.
1. You Maniac
Concept: 10 Trailer: 9 Pairing: 9
Friends with benefits and no strings attached but then they catch feelings! I absolutely love this!! I have one singular physical fanfiction in book form and it's exactly this concept, so I'm down.
Also it helped that the trailer felt cohesive and smooth in a way that some of the other trailers didn't.
Also I'm down bad for William and Est so I'll definitely be watching this.
Another fire trailer! I love the old school gangster vibe and I'm so intrigued by both pairings and their story.
Is the first time we've had a full on masc/masc pairing? I am hooked! Great and Bright are both amazing on their own so I don't see how them together could be anything but great.
I'm definitely seated for this one!
3. Gunshot
Concept: 9 Trailer: 8 Pairing: 9
I am intrigued! I love some good trauma with a side of revenge.
Also I personally like Off and Gun much better in more gritty shows so I am sat for this show.
4. I Will Always Save You
Concept: 8 Trailer: 7 Pairing: 7
This actually seems pretty promising to me. I love a good bodyguard show and the mix-in of Thai country music (there's gotta be a better name for it) intrigues me so I'm down.
5. Twenty One 21
Concept: 7 Trailer: 9 Pairing: 9
This was a fire trailer and I really like Junior and Mark already so I was hooked pretty immediately. The concept would have been a 10 if they'd made it clear that Mark's character does like Junior's character before the 21 days thing, because I honestly don't believe or even like the idea of giving someone 21 days to make you fall for them if you don't already have feelings for them. Finger's crossed that they make it so he does have some feelings before the whole 21 days thing.
6. The Spooky Love Tale
Concept: 8 Trailer: 6 Pairing: 8
I do very much like these two and I like that there's a little bit of a hidden identity to add some tension between them.
I wonder whether the ghost stuff is going to be just as low budget in the actual show or if it's just because it's a teaser trailer.
I'll definitely keep an eye out for the actual trailer for this.
7. 17th Spring
Concept: 8 Trailer: 6 Pairing: 8
I do love a good generational queer story and I like both pairings so I'll definitely give this a chance if the trailer looks good but I would have loved for this to have a stronger teaser trailer.
8. My Professional Boyfriend
Concept: 6 Trailer: 7 Pairing: 7
Another pretend relationship. I'm intrigued and I really like the overall vibe of the teaser trailer but if I'm busy when this starts airing I might wait to see what people think of the show first.
9. Unlucky Bae
Concept: 7 Trailer: 6 Pairing: 6
It seems like GMMTV paid for one Tilly Birds song and then used it for several trailers. It's good song but it definitely had less of an effect after the 3rd time hearing it.
Even though it's a new pairing that I haven't seen before, they actually were pretty convincing in the trailer so I'm intrigued by them.
The concept also feels pretty fresh so I'm curious about this show.
If the final trailer turns out good then I might tune in for this one.
I do like a good sugar daddy and "getting off on the wrong foot with someone who's suddenly has a lot of power over you" so I could see this be good but I'm not on the edge of my seat waiting for this show.
The rest of my thoughts of the BL teaser trailers are below the cut.
11. Good Boy Series
Concept: 6 Trailer: 7 Pairing: 6
It's cute and I like second chance stories like this and the cliff hanger was interesting but I'll admit the fact that it's in high school makes me less interested.
12. Weirdo-101
Concept: 4 Trailer: 6 Pairing: 8
I like Sea and Keen but I'm not sold on the concept, so I'll probably check out the trailer when it comes out but forget about it until then.
I'm not convinced by the concept and the trailer didn't convince me either. So I will probably only watch it if other people are absolutely loving it.
14. Replay
Concept: 7 Trailer: 4 Pairing: 6
The concept is interesting but I worry that GMMTV won't be able to pull it off. Since this is three pairings I really hope they make this a longer show than 10 episodes because I don't think that would be enough. Either way this has potential for me but the trailer didn't really speak to me as a whole.
I'm absolutely loving Surf and Java in Head 2 Head so they definitely have me intrigued in this and I do like a good enemies to lovers but otherwise the concept doesn't interest me a lot and the trailer kinda fell flat for me.
16. Plan B to U
Concept: 4 Trailer: 4 Pairing: 6
Both the concept and trailer missed the mark for me, so I probably won't keep an eye out for this one.
17. When Oranges Fall
Concept: 3 Trailer: 6 Pairing: 3
This seems very slice of life while also being in high school which makes this not super interesting to me. The trailer was pretty good and felt very cohesive but that doesn't help it much when the concept isn't for me.
18. The Invisible Dragon
Concept: 4 Trailer: 4 Pairing: 6
Listen, I was big into First and Khaotung once upon a time but for some reason I've completely lost that, which means that when this plot and trailer felt like a miss it's a pretty big miss.
19. Kiss Me, Remember
Concept: 4 Trailer: 5 Pairing: 3
Almost wanted to click away from the trailer in the first half because Barcode's character constantly begging for another kiss was just too weird but the second half was pretty good.
All I think of when I see Barcode is KinnPorsche so I'm not convinced by the pairing.
20. Write You Again
Concept: 3 Trailer: 7 Pairing: 5
I'm not big on amnesia plots so I'll have to pass on this one.
Pretty good trailer though
21. How to Survive My CEO
Concept: 3 Trailer: 6 Pairing: 8
I do love the trope of "met and had an intimate moment with someone and then later it turned out they were your boss" BUT I'm not here for the idea that the boss then hires and pursues the worker, especially when the worker isn't obviously into it.
Maybe if the original "intimate moment" had been a night of flirting and passion I would be more convinced but I honestly don't know if this kind of "grey area" concept would work for GMMTV. This is the thing Japan and China does well but they're basically the opposite of GMMTV.
One moment that really stood out to me was when the coworkers defended the boss, saying he isn't a bad guy, because it reminded me of the scene in Khemjira where people were saying the abusive husband wouldn't do that to his wife because he's a "good" guy.
This meant that I spent most of this trailer incredibly frustrated because I love Joong and Dunk and this could have been right up my alley but then instead it's a massive miss.
22. Match Point
Concept: 3 Trailer: 4 Pairing: 4
This sounds like Bad Buddy but with sports, which, I fear, isn't really up my alley. I like Ping a lot and he's a good actor so the other guy is going to easily pale in comparison. I'm open to be proven wrong and for this to become an amazing show but I won't keep an eye out for it.
I finally have some time to tell y'all why you should be watching this show, so buckle up!
The Basics:
Young aspiring artist Fifa is set on going to a prestiges university in Japan but his grandma won't allow him to go unless he works on her elephant ranch for 3 months.
On her ranch in rural Northern Thailand, Fifa is a fish out of water and clashes with the stoic ranger, Hem, who's put in charge of showing Fifa the ropes. Fifa doesn't want to be on the ranch and Hem doesn't want to deal with Fifa, but maybe 3 months will be able to change that.
Will the city boy with big dreams learn to love the slow farm life in rural Thailand? And will the stoic ranger have space for more than nature in his bruised heart?
The show has 7 episodes and the 5th airs on Tuesday on Gagaoolala.
Why you should go watch it!
If Enemies to lovers from different worlds is your thing, this show is for you. It's giving A Tale of Thousand Stars so if you liked that show, this might also be up your alley
High production quality
Tired of every show being set in Bangkok! This show is set in Northern Thailand and filmed on location and immersed in local culture
Gratuitous gorgeous nature shots! If you don't already know how beautiful Northern Thailand can be, this show will make sure you know. And if you want a taste, I've made GIFs!
Want a break from product placements? This show seems to entirely be funded by elephant ranches in the Chiang Mai area, so the most you'll see are beautiful shots of an elephant ranch and some dialogue showing elephant ranches in a positive light, which feels like nothing compared to other show's product placements
The Characters:
Fifa
City boy and aspiring artist with a colorful wardrobe and personality. He's stubborn but will give his all if he sets his mind to it.
Hem
Nature loving stoic ranger who just wants to be left alone. He has a big heart and just wants to help the community and local landscape thrive but keeps his walls high after getting hurt in the past.
Grandma
The strict matriarch of Fifa's family and the reason why Fifa ends up on the elephant ranch. I'm unsure what she's trying to do by making Fifa work on her ranch. Is she trying to keep Fifa from going to Japan? Is she trying to teach him how to stand on his own two feet? Does she just want him to prove that he can do that?
Prod and Padmé
These two are the friends and confidants of our main pairing. You might already know the actor who plays Prod, Nammon, from past BLs such as The Rebound and A Tale of Thousand Stars.
Fifa's Parents
Looking at these two I'm not surprised Fifa is the way he is. They seem like the most chill but also oddest parents. They love Fifa even if they let grandma decide. Also I want both of their wardrobes!
I never got around to finishing this series after I got home from Thailand in 2024 but now that I'm visiting Thailand again soon so I figured I'd finally finish it.
This is the 4th post in the 4 part series with the other posts here:
1. An overview and my general advice for visiting Thailand
A deeper look at our trip with my thoughts and specific advice, split into 3 sections:
2. Road trip of the Mae Hong Son Loop
3. Chiang Mai
4. Bangkok and Ayutthaya (this post)
This post covers our trip to Ayutthaya from Chiang Mai and then on to Bangkok, where we visited the GMMTV building and celebrated the Chinese New Year.
Train to Ayutthaya
We took the sleeper train from Chiang Mai to Ayutthaya, which for sure was an experience. We decided to take an "earlier" train, that left Chiang Mai at 7pm, which meant we got to see at least some of the views from the train before the sun set. This however meant that we got to Ayutthaya at 5am in the morning which was not ideal.
We had a compartment to ourselves which was a good choice since we a closed off space with bunks all to ourselves. This however didn't make up for how uncomfortable the sleeping experience was on the train.
As expected from a train in Thailand it wasn't very modern which made it for a rough ride so we didn't sleep a lot.
The changing terrain in Thailand also meant that the train went up and down some pretty steep slopes, and let me tell you, I wouldn't recommend waking up in the middle of the night (for the nth time) to the feeling of the train hurdling down a mountain side.
I'm sure it really wasn't that extreme but since it was night and the train was in the middle of nowhere, I had no way of confirming that it really wasn't that bad.
As far as I remember the train tickets also weren't much cheaper than a plane ticket, if at all, so going by train is for the experience, which it definitely was.
So if you're thinking of taking the sleeper train between Chiang Mai and Bangkok (or maybe at all in Thailand) you might want to make sure that you're able to sleep well on the train and/or that the experience itself will outweigh the negatives for you.
Ayutthaya
What met us in Ayutthaya at 5am was a wall of heat and humidity, letting us know that we'd finally arrived in central Thailand.
We were dead tired at this point but luckily our airbnb host was very kind and let us get into our room at 7am so we could have a nap before we went exploring.
Ayutthaya is the old capital of Thailand so there's a lot of historical ruins which was cool to see. Sadly there isn't a lot of information about each structure on the sites which means that to me they pretty fast all started looking the same.
We borrowed bikes from our Airbnb since, especially in the central old part of town, it's easy to get around on bikes. It's definitely still Thailand so you do have to have some nerve to bike outside this small area and especially if you want to visit some of the historical sites outside of the main central area biking does become more like an extreme sport. Being Danish this of course didn't scare us off, but you should definitely think carefully before doing this.
Most of the other tourists we met were on day trips to the historical sites from Bangkok, which I honestly also think is the best way to experience the historical sites, because it would usually come with a guide so you'd get much more information and context for the ruins.
This, however, meant that there weren't a lot of tourists outside of these areas which actually made for an interesting experience, though as much as I found it super interesting, I would rather have done a more in-dept tour of the historical sites on a day-trip from Bangkok.
Bangkok
By the time we got to Bangkok I'd seen enough historical sites and temples to last me a long while so we didn't really see any of the more touristy sites in Bangkok. We mostly traveled around town, taking in the city by foot while doing small personal quests, like finding a smoothie place, getting Texas Chicken and buying a Tilly Birds CD.
Bangkok was also just incredibly hot and humid which meant we could only handle so much time outside before we needed to take shelter in the many shopping malls of Bangkok.
GMMTV
We'd not really done much research or planning around our trip to the GMMTV building because we figured it would just be a regular old merch store but when we got to the building and, after some searching with no results, we had to turn to the internet to figure out what the deal was.
Turns out there really isn't any "merch store" but a small merch stand and a place where you can buy merch from their website, as long as they have it in stock. This is also only accessible to you if you get a visitor badge to the specific floor the merch is on, which there are no signs about or easily available information about on the ground floor. Luckily some guardian angel posted a long post on reddit about it 3 years ago which was the thing that saved us.
If you find this post after January 2026 and you want to know if this is still the case, you should check to see if I've updated this post and if I haven't, you should shoot me a message and I'll let you know what the updated situation is.
Chinese New Year
We had planned it so we'd be in Bangkok during the Chinese New Year and getting to experiencing China Town during this time was definitely one of the highlights of the Bangkok visit. There was so much going on and the area is all decked out which was so cool to experience. We went into China Town several times during the days leading up to the Chinese New Year because we stayed near by so we also got to see the lead up to the day.
On the day itself we went both in the afternoon and in the evening, and I'll continue with my notes of caution, because going in the evening was down right scary because the crowd was so thick with people. I've never before been in a crowd that dense and I rather not ever try that again. At times we'd move at a snails pace and you'd have to almost be a little aggressive to make sure you actually kept moving in the direction you wanted.
Final thoughts
This post feels a lot more like a lesson in what not to do when visiting Ayutthaya and Bangkok, but I still hope it was interesting and useful, and I'll happily answer any questions you have.
Lessons I took away from this part of the trip:
Only take the sleeper train from Chiang Mai to Ayutthaya/Bangkok if you're good at sleeping in more hostile environments or if you just love trains enough to overshadow this.
Ayutthaya is a good place for a day trip but if you want to stay for longer make sure you have a way to get more information about the historical sites, like having a guide.
Make sure to research how to get into the GMMTV building before you go.
Don't go to China Town in Bangkok on Chinese New Years too late in the evening because it gets too crowded.
After last weeks episode of Thampo I wondered, in my weekly recap, whether GMMTV would find a way to differentiate themselves from the in-show company because I figured Oner seemed to be one of the villains of the show. This week's episode, however, proved that I had it completely wrong ... apparently they aren't a villain of the show after all... 🤨
Because, apparently, even if you lie and manipulate people, it's okay because you did it to help them "grow" and make their "dream" come true...
If you couldn't tell already, I think this is some bullshit!
The moment the hopeful music started in the scene between Miss Pemika and Po I couldn't believe what I was hearing and the cleared it got that the show wanted me to believe that what Miss Pemika was doing for the characters was actually the "right" thing all along, the more shocked I got.
The show wants to redeem Miss Pemika but I've not forgotten how manipulative she's been all throughout the show.
The end of this episode made it seem like she'd been doing all these great things for the members of the band but that's all entirely based on Miss Pemika's idea of what growth and success is.
Sure, the members will get some version of their dream but who's to say that they wouldn't have been equally or even more happy if Thame didn't have to go to Korea? Which she manipulated him into btw.
And on top of how patronizing it is that she's decided exactly what's best for the band members and what they would consider "success", she also , again, manipulates them all into thinking that this is what was right for them all along, including Po.
And the thing is, the situation with Po makes me even more mad because he is so so talented and deserves all the recognition and praise but his promotion by Miss Pemika is again presented as being what he really wanted all along, but isn't it really just Miss Pemika using it as another way of manipulating him into doing what she wants?
Isn't that really what happened in this episode? Miss Pemika giving them all a chance at her version of "success" as a distraction from them not getting to stay together as a band and Thame being forced to go to Korea on his own?
I just think it's incredibly fucked up how much she's been lying to them and manipulating them and then the show wants to tell me that it's all good? Fuck no!!
As I mentioned at the top, last week I was wondering how GMMTV were planning on differentiating themselves from Oner because I felt they were a villain in this show, and this week I got my answer:
Oner/GMMTV isn't supposed to be a villain in this show, but if you ask me, they still are.
The members of Mars and Po getting some form of success out of the situation doesn't change the fact that they only got exactly what Miss Pemika and Oner decided the characters needed and what they were allowed to have based on Miss Pemika and Oner's capitalistic ideals and goals.
I'd love to hear how you guys felt about this episode and how the show is framing Miss Pemika's actions. Am I overreacting? Do you agree with me? Do you think this was the best resolution for everyone? Did I miss something which makes the situation better/worse?
