Finally finished this!! I may or may not have been too lazy to properly shade, but shhhh you don’t see that

“The Flying Crown” — if I could rewrite it ⊹ ࣪ ˖ ໒꒱

‎ج⁀➴ Personally? I see so much potential, I’D MAKE IT WAY LONGER!!!! 😼 (can u tell I like HugFia?) I’m not much for a fic writer but take my ideas!! (buckle up, it’s kinda long. I put spaces between the bullet points where I think the day would end or just to space it out more! :])

Before this ep, I’d actually have Hugo show up a bit more in S1!! I think it’d make him changing in this episode one more fun! He'd make snarky comments at Sofia whenever he can (Amber hates this)

James’ injury doesn’t happen right after the race, and he gets to properly celebrate with Sofia and their family when they get to the castle!!

(At some point, Miranda or Roland make a point to point out Amber not including James in the win)

(“I guess you did do a good job with Sofia… Congratulations James.”)

(It makes James VERY happy to be congratulated by her. In truth, Amber was just really happy to see a Princess successfully doing ‘Prince Things’ that she gets carried away & forgets James is part of this too)

(she also is just a bit stubborn about showing her brother outright affection. Amber DEFINITELY cheered loudly for him too during the race, why wouldn’t she? and she's too busy, wrapped up in the race, that her cheers for him come out naturally.)

(Sofia sighs in relief seeing them make up)

James’ injury isn’t acquired after the race! He injured himself during early morning training with Sofia the next day

He got too carried away!! He somehow convinced Sofia to sling him FOR. FUN. and it ended up terribly for him

While worrying — they think about how the Final Race is about a Week or Two away (Really guys, I’m sure the riders need their rest and time to train!! WHOSE IDEA WAS IT TO SET IT 4 DAYS AFTER THE LAST RACE IN CANON..?)

ANYWAY I’m assuming it’s a school day (but Sofia & James sometimes, during the time before the Competition, miss classes to practice. They have special permission!)

Hugo’s class time is interrupted as he gets brought in as a replacement

(Amber finds herself worried about it bc she knows her siblings practice is now AND Hugo never makes it back to class that day.. when she does find out, she does freak out a little)

James is made the Assistant Coach BUT he actually gets the chance to coach the two a little before their actual Coach sends him to other work for being TOO DISTRACTING and ANNOYING!!!!

(See, James & Sofia would’ve been too comfortable to the point that if James tried to give the two actual ideas/tips, it would then turn into them giggling and reminiscing over their other Races)

(“Oh but don’t ever do (insert move here)— Hey Sofia! remember when we tried that and we ended up breaking a window?”)

(This would only make Hugo more jealous of their experiences. Maybe even a little jealous of their sibling relationship…. Why does Axel have to pick on him all the time?)

THOUGH before James ‘coaches’ them a little, I’d have the scene of Minimus/Sofia worrying about Electra/Hugo here

Sofia should absolutely get the chance to talk to Electra before they started — establishing a friendship between them!!!! It confuses and scares Minimus. Sofia had to reassure him (and also let him know that he's her favorite horse, that would never change)

After James gets a job switch, Sofia and Hugo would get into another argument, find it hard to work together, and call it quits for the day

I think over the course of the next few training days, he starts to warm up to Sofia a little. But of course he can't stop going off about her "Luck".

I think they try the Flying Slingshot the right way at least once

(Electra outright doesn’t listen to him when he gets too stubborn so he caves in and tries it once) (look it doesn’t make sense to me that a prestigious racing horse like her DOESN’T act against him at least once? boy you aren’t her first rider..)

it doesn’t work immediately but both of them can see it works way better the right way, they just have to get it right!!

I think the whole thing with Amber checking up on her, then Sofia’s opponents appear, and Hugo challenges them still happens

but I’d definitely have liked to see Clio and Hildegarde pop up with their opinions more

(tho I feel like their opinions would be less helpful and more.. silly?? traditional almost? y’know how they are 😭 I mean Hildy literally said "do you have to (practice)?")

Their ending agreement in my rewrite would be Sofia convincing Hugo that he shouldn’t start focusing on speed after getting beaten, they need team work!!

He’s definitely still insisting on being the one to cross tho. Everyone present SIIIIIGHED!!

They still get extra practice in before the competition but before that, Axel opens his big mouth and during practice Hugo spends a lot of time being MORE stubborn than usual. It's obvious to anyone and Sofia feels like they're back at square one.

After crashing out particularly bad at Sofia, Electra completely stops listening to him then and that's when he has his whole quitting moment

The rest of the ending would work almost the exact same way!

except Amber definitely acknowledges James for still being part of the team, tho she then says Hugo "did alright" (this gets a laugh out of all of them)

after everyones congratulated them, they’ll get time alone while leading their horses back to the stables AND HUGO APOLOGIZES TO SOFIA DIRECTLY!! this is important to me!

seriously why didn’t they have him apologize directly, it would’ve meant so much to her

(They’ll thank their horses for their work first tho!!!) (on a side note, don't you think it'd be kinda fun if there were hints of romance between their horses? kinda mirroring Hugfia in a way? no? just me? okay..)

ok I'm caving in and writing this part:

“Alright! If we’re done here, the others mentioned they wanted to—“ Sofia starts to make her way out, expecting him to follow her. Hugo only stares at her. Mentally debating on what he should do.

But he found himself chasing after her and catching her hand before she could completely walk away. This startled both of them.

"Wait Sofia!”

“What's wrong Hugo?”

“It.. it wasn't just luck," He pauses and realizes he wasn't making any sense at the moment. So he gathers up all his courage and continues. "Sofia, you’re the most hard working person I know, I was wrong you didn't get into the team with just 'luck'. I was just being too stubborn to admit it. What I’m trying to say is... I'm.. I'm sorry... for not listening to you and for looking down on you all those times."

Somewhere in the middle of his apology he found himself staring at the ground. When he finally gets the courage to look back at her, Sofia's beaming at him. And Hugo felt a strange warmth in his chest.

after that they become friends (tho it definitely won't be perfect, I like the idea that they’ll work on it over time!)

the horses especially Electra make sounds of approval btw, she definitely says it's "about time he apologized" and Minimus agrees

oh and they definitely get an after party!!

I really wish I had the time to write.. I HAD SO MANY IDEAS FOR THIS I LOWKEY COULDN’T FIT THEM ALL 😭 (and forgot some um #Oops... BUT I HOPE U SEE MY VISION!!)

Sofia’s Villain Song: For One and All

Inspired by the Disney Princess villain song series by Lydia the Bard, here’s my idea for Princess Sofia’s own dark version of a Sofia the First song and the backstory and animatic script accompanying it. There are mentioned dead bodies and a little blood. I’ve really tried to keep her in-character, despite the very different circumstances and tone. She’s more of an anti-villain here. The canon song that inspired it is below.

I’d love to hear feedback on this and talk to other fans, of Sofia or Lydia.

Growing up is realising that Sofia was just an 8 year old girl who had too many responsibilities and was pressured by adults to save her new family and a kingdom and realm she now has to take care of and protect and people have high expectations of her, and that she was never given any real time to grieve her missing (most likely dead) father who only passed away like a year before her mother's remarriage and she is a child with trauma and doesn't want to bother people with it or tell anyone her secrets because they might put her in danger. She is a prodigy in just about everything she tries and isn't used to the idea of failling or not getting the hang of things quickly.

Sofia is also constantly betting her own life or being forced to negotiate the lives of her family since she was 8. She was betrayed by 4 adults, 3 of which were her teachers and and 3 of them are redeemed. She watched two people be murdered and a man waste his life away. Her brother being distressed and angry because he wasted his childhood preparing for a position he was never going to get because their grandmother and aunt lied. She watched the reason the twins were born and the queen was killed. Has been trapped in the middle of no where multiple times. Her sister stole her amulet. She saved the world multiple times. And her friends were toxic to her for being better than them at a game and trying to help a girl out. Was tricked by Cedric into cursing the entire kingdom to sleep. Is very protective and suspicious to anyone who even looks at the Amulet. Was given a position that constantly puts her life in danger and told to protect an entire realm filled with like 50 kingdoms. Must watch or read peoples lives no matter how gory in order to give them an ending weather it's sad or happy as long as it's an ending. Is blamed if things go wrong because of an adult. Isn't believed even if she's right. And none of the adults listen to her and always underestimate her.

This child needs a hug, therapy, sleep, and should just go play Dazzle all, Flyer Derby, or Ice dancing, go back to the Buttercup scouts, do her homework, practice magic, and play with her animals.

Sofia’s Recurring Dream

Even after going back to the past, Sofia relives one of the worst moments of her life in her dreams. She’s tried ignoring them, but they just don’t stop. It doesn’t help that, now, she’s forced to see his face and confront what she’s done every single day. Still, she has a job to do, and won’t let this get in her way.

The King’s Retaliation

The rebellion had been making strides—they had freed a lot of the working class, built a base, they had resources. They were even gaining the support of other countries, most notably Avalor and those on the Mystic Isles. They were doing *good*.

And then the newly crowned king launched an attack, something even his father wasn’t able to do.

And he killed hundreds.

It was the first in a long time that Sofia felt totally powerless.
