hey I was wondering if it's a big deal to have a lot of activities and participations on my record, so far I'm a sophomore in college and I work at whole foods. it's so hard to find time to fit even homework in none the less any activities (ALTHOUGH IM TRYING). any tips, advice and thoughts please? I wanted to apply soon and I feel as if I'm quite boring but I KNOW everything will change if I get in. thank you!

You definitely don’t need a ton of extracurricular activities on your application to get accepted. Personally, I participated in like one club and did community service outside of school. I also had a job as a junior/senior and played a rec sport for a couple years early on in high school (I don’t think I mentioned either on my application). Having a job is an extracurricular activity on its own. It takes up a lot of time and you do learn a lot from having a job, so don’t sell yourself short. You can definitely use the experiences and knowledge you’ve gained from working at Whole Foods on your application to your benefit. I know some people who were super involved in every group and activity under the sun and got into NYU, but I also know people who did a thing or two and were accepted. Your extracurricular activities are one of the things they look at, but they don’t mean everything. Also, I’m sure you’re not boring. I bet you could pull out some interesting stories from your time at Whole Foods that would be great anecdotes on an application or in conversation. :)
