Men I Trust - Tailwhip
The charming music video Men I Trust just released the other day affords us the perfect opportunity to partake in their acclaimed recent single Tailwhip. The Montreal trio offers up an abundance of their woozy nostalgic, dreamy swirling dream pop on the soothing gem. Soft disco funk beats intertwine with luscious guitars on the sublime twirler. It’s rather fitting that Tailwhip’s video was crafted out of old VHS footage provided by the band members’ family and friends. Tailwhip evokes the faded past, which always seems alluring when viewed through rose colored glasses after the passage of time. Tailwhip is available from Bandcamp, here.
TSG The Surviving Group- Soft dance (Video 2)
p.e., “soft dance”
Mysterious new trio Small Hours takes us into the dark hours of the night with Shoe Box, their “soft dance” debut. Shoe Box’s hearty beats are met by gusty springing strings, resulting in a bravado whose mettle is softened by Small Hours’ sensual smooth pop vocals. This “shoe box” is more like a rabbit hole once you lift the lid up, you fall in deep, drawn into Small Hours’ dusky bewitching world of ardent emotions and dreamy reflection. I’m transported to the wee hours of the morning, when the crowd has thinned out from the club. The fog has lifted and the bedlam has died down, but you’re still dancing, eyes closed, lost in your own thoughts and overwhelmed by the insatiable desires of the heart.
