a message to soft focus readers:
hello i love and appreciate you
i’m rewriting everything and i’m SORRY
while i have a general idea of where i’d like things to go (and even plans for a sequel), i’m a bit stuck right now and i think the best course of action would be to rework some things. i’ve been posting as i go (with a chapter or two written ahead of time) for about 6 months now. i didn’t have much of a plan except for a vague outline, and i’ve learned a lot about these characters just from writing them, so this was bound to happen eventually. i’ve only rewritten the first chapter so far, but i already love it and i’m excited to see how else i can improve what i’ve written so far!
and just to clarify, i don’t plan to change any major plot details. the main reason i’m starting fresh is so that i don’t feel like i have to stay too close to the original story, but there’s always the chance it’ll end up about the same. since i just started working on it again, i can’t be too sure.
the first version will remain on ao3 as is until i start posting the new one, and even after i hide it (in a collection, so i can still go back and see all your lovely comments
🥺), i’ll make sure it’s still accessible. while i’ll want new readers to experience the new & improved version first, i’m very much against the idea of deleting my works completely. i want to make sure people who enjoy the original version can still go back and read it if they’d like, so i’ll most likely link to a google doc or something similar.
so if you’ve been enjoying the story so far, here’s a few things you can do in the meantime!
download the fic off of ao3 if you’d like. like i said, i’ll make that version available even after it’s not visible on the site anymore, but if you’d like to keep the original format instead of a google doc, that’s your best bet.
send me feedback! while i’m reworking things, i’d love to know what worked and what didn’t. what aspects did you like? what was confusing or unclear? what do you think i could improve on? this fic started as a goofy self-indulgent experiment, but i’d really like to work harder on it and make it something i’m really proud of.
if you haven’t already, check out the one shots in the series! they’re not usually acelaw-focused, but i add to it every now and then because i love writing this universe.
