12) Name a physical trait your character really likes in others.

Beard scruff. Soibhan secretly loves beard scruff, and enjoys running her fingers through it. She loves Al’s beard, and absolutely adores it when Hiero doesn’t get to shave right away.

12) Name a physical trait your character really likes in others.

Hands. Soibhan believes you can tell a lot about a person by looking at their hands. Every tremor, every callous or scar—or lack thereof—has a story behind it. People can lie with their pretty mouths, or beguile with a look from their jaded eyes, but they can rarely hide the stories their hands can tell.

15) Name a physical trait your character has that they’re embarrassed about.

Her arms. Where she’s proud of the strength of her legs, she’s embarrassed by the lack of strength she has in her arms. This is partly why she chose a sword as her main weapon when she became a ginterghast, and a broadsword later. The heaviness of the massive blade has helped her refine and grow the strength of her arms and soon she won’t be so embarrassed by them.

2) What’s something your character does at home that they would never do in public?

Write. She doesn’t do much of it now, but she will really try to make an effort to learn better penmanship once she gets to Brassbridge. However, she’s so ashamed of her illiteracy that she tries to never do it in front of others and hides all of her efforts—most of them scrawled on scraps of torn parchment—in the bottom of her pack.

11) Name a part of their body that your character is really proud of or really likes.

Her rack. She’s a little bit vain when it comes to her legs. She likes the different curves of them, but she also likes how strong they are. They let her keep up with the taller people(looking at you, Will), help her control the horses she rides, and give her a leg up in battle when she has to take heavy blows from things bigger or stronger than herself. Not only that, but they let her dance.

Soibhan, 6 and 14

6) Name one item that your character doesn’t use for its intended purpose.

Aunt Anneliese once gifted Soibhan with a beautiful ebony wood hair comb encrusted with tiny gemstones of different colors, obviously meant for decoration during special occassions. Poor naive Soibhan didn’t really know any better and used it for combing out the manes and tails of the three family horses, plus her own hair, as if it were an actual comb. To this day, she still uses it for this purpose, though most of the gemstones have fallen out and the ebony has lost most of its lacquer coating. 

14) What’s something that your character’s really into that others might not expect?

Theatre! Quite often Soibhan was able to catch the performances during Lud’s festivals and though she’s heard Brassbridge theatre is better by far, she has always found theatre fascinating. She likes to imagine that reading offers a similar experience, but since she can’t read, seeing people perform live in front of her is a wonderful alternative.

4) Name one of your character’s guilty pleasures.

Soibhan may inhale things like meat and potatoes with gusto, but one of her favorite foods is actually strawberries. During one of Lud’s many festivals, she managed to sneak a bowl of strawberries covered in a thick, sweet cream and decided it was as close to a true religious experience as she was ever going to get. 

6) Name one item that your character doesn’t use for its intended purpose.

A priest(not Will) once gave her pendant of Ophelia’s flame that she found works really well in cleaning her nails. She doesn’t mean to offend anyone, it’s just that it’s the exact right size to get on up there and her dagger is too big…

10) What is something your character does that they consider taboo or outside of societal norms?

What is something that Soibhan doesn’t do that’s taboo? But for reals, Soibhan much prefers trousers over skirts and shows off her wight mark like a lady might a pretty necklace. This can prove jarring considering her wight mark’s placement. But probably the most taboo thing she does is that she doesn’t hide anything of who she really is. She isn’t a lady; she does unladylike things, and she scoffs at anyone that gives her flak for it.

Soibhan, 4 and 7!

4) Name one of your character’s guilty pleasures.

Soibhan loves to sing, and though her voice isn’t very refined, it isn’t terrible either. She hardly ever does it, and rarer still in front of others. Her papa once told her that a farm girl had no time for singing amongst all her chores, and so she started seeing it as a waste of time. But, every now and then, she will wake up early to see the sunrise and sing quietly to herself as it does. 

7) What’s something your character would secretly love to do with someone else?

Not so secretly, Soibhan loves to braid hair. Secretly, she would love to braid Eden or Delphine’s hair. Since Soibhan never had any siblings but always wanted a sister, she will have a hard time not seeing her fellow female ginterghasts as pseudo-sisters, and braiding their hair into intricate styles would make her delightfully happy.
