Nevertheless anon here. :) Seems like you were right. Someone said they read the script of the show and JW does like Sol but apparently she could be AWARE of it all along. She just hid it cos she thinks she isn’t good enough for Sol.
One of my previous theory is that JW knows her feelings and is actually distancing herself from Sol by dating around so it wouldn’t hurt as much when someone comes along eventually cos JW had this knowing and regretful expression on her face like “I have seen this coming and I have been preparing for it but this shit still f stings!!” when their mutual friend said she didn’t know about the guy cos she was busy dating when Sol was playing the couple game. P/S: But do take this w a grain of salt cos I don’t know how reliable the source is. And i could’ve misunderstood it since the translation could also mean she realises her feelings for Sol later on. It’s fun to think she always knew tho - now I watch their scenes from a completely different angle and it’s interesting, like the fact that JW doesn’t feel confident about herself is something I would not guess (but makes sense w her deep admiration for the girl) w her being popular w guys and prob w people in general w a bubbly personality. Oh, interesting... Definitely gonna take it with a grain of salt, though what they've said doesn't contradict what I think... But what you've THEORIZED, well. I can't say it was my headcanon at all that JW already knows her feelings, like, this may all be underneath at some level, but she mostly seems kind of oblivious about why Sol with a guy is twisting her up so much. For example, when she was on a date with the other guy in ep 3 and then saw Sol with the coffee dude, she was just like, kind of confused, you know? It was later that she did have that regretful, upset face.
But I may be imagining it more than actually seeing what's there, it's just always been the case that you have one quieter friend who pines over the other while the other effusive one is all about boys until finally something makes them realize their feelings. That's what it feels like here, but I admit, that may not be the case.
It would be pretty interesting, the more I think on it, if they've both just been silently pining after the other, afraid to make a move for entirely different reasons. Clearly JW does feel inferior to Sol in some way, her discussion with Na-bi said as much, where she chose art because of Sol and has basically always been chasing after her in a sense. I'm sure Sol would be shocked to realize that's the case, JW is definitely good at putting on a front...
Either way, I'm just interested in seeing them actually be canon (and endgame >_>).
