Soul is the disgraced son of a wealthy merchant family. He was never supposed to be a ninja. Then again, he never wanted to be a merchant, either.

naruto au. life is tough when you’re the only ninja in your family. it’s tougher when nobody knows how to control your bloodline limit. (life is tough, in a different way, when you’re the son of the tamashikage.) soul/kid as precious, dumb children.

The forest behind the Academy was used by older students all the time, to practice fighting without relying on their eyes. Kids like Soul and Kilik and their other classmates were still too small, not even genin, and weren’t allowed to go in without supervision.

Of course, nobody thought to find a teacher when they heard the distant scream. No, they just dared each other to go in alone.

As an adult, Soul would remember the moment with mild embarrassment. It was a stupid thing to do, and potentially dangerous if there had been an actual fight in progress, but they were kids, and kids didn’t think about things like that.

As a kid himself, as a new transfer student eager to impress his new friends, Soul volunteered to go. He tromped into the woods acting braver than he felt. His classmates cheered him on.

The trees blotted out the light spring sun. It only took a few more seconds for them to swallow up his classmate’s cheers. Soul shivered in the sudden quiet. He couldn’t go back, though, not yet— when he turned, he could still see Black Star’s bright blue hair. He was sure that they could still see him, too. His hair was white, even brighter than Star’s.

The scream came again. Soul jumped. His hair was standing on end.

He was suddenly very scared.

He couldn’t see his friends anymore. What if something came for Soul? How long would it take them to find him? Maybe they never would, and Soul would just disappear—

His foot turned to steel and sank into the loamy earth. Already on edge and now off-balance, Soul yelped (loud!) and forcibly planted his face in the dirt.

His arm had turned to steel, too, straining against the fabric of his sleeve and hanging heavily from his shoulder. He tried to will it back to flesh and blood and bone. Then his eye caught on a moving shadow and he looked up, terrified.

It took him a moment to recognize the boy, and another to remember his name. The tamashikage’s son. Kid.

Soul was relieved. If anything happened to Kid, people would definitely know. They’d come looking.

“What are you doing here?” Kid asked. He sounded nothing like his father. His voice was raspy, and it had a weird quaver in it.

“We heard a scream,” Soul explained, still thinking about Kid’s voice. Kid was redder than Soul remembered, his cheeks blotchy— “Was that you?” Soul blurted. “Are you crying?”

“None of your business,” Kid snapped, backing behind a tree. “I’m not crying. What happened to your shoe?”

Soul looked down. His leg had turned back, but his shoe was missing. His arm was back, too, he noticed, flexing his hand. “Lost it,” he said, truthfully. “Why were you crying?”

Kid lifted his chin. “I was not crying. I don’t cry.”

The words sent a shiver down Soul’s spine. He remembered those words— he’d said them before, too. “There’s nothing wrong with crying,” he mumbled.

Kid’s lips quivered. “I wasn’t crying.”

Soul lifted his chin, too. He took a step toward Kid. “There’s nothing wrong with crying,” he repeated, firmly, channeling all the warmth of his big brother. Kid didn’t have a big brother, he remembered. He didn’t have anyone who would sneak warm honey-milk into his room in the middle of the night.

“I wasn’t crying,” Kid repeated, but he sounded less certain.

Soul made a decision and nodded. “Yes, you were,” he said, and threw his arms around Kid in a hug.

Kid made a startled noise into Soul’s jacket, and then he surprised them both by bursting into tears.

 You certainly can anon!! I’ll do 3 at a time, starting with the original trio~

Seilby - Son of Soul and Kid Sei was the first child of the family, and the first oddity. His hair is black at the roots and rapidly grows out to while, and as a teen he shaves the left side of his head to have stripes (Kid is mortified). He’s a weapon, however his scythe gene is highly unstable and ever since he was young, scythe blades would protrude from his body without warning. Because of this, he also trains as a meister. 

Allie - Child of Maka and SoulThe second child of the family, second with sharp teeth, second weapon, but first to have the devotion of a crazed grandparent. Not only were they Maka’s first child, but they also managed to inherit Spirit’s red hair. Allie is laid-back jokester, who surprised everyone when her weapon form turned out to be a shield and not a scythe. She and Seilby are extremely close, sharing support and joy between each other. Maka often says that Allie probably managed to chose her weapon type, so she could be close to Sei, who was afraid of injuring others with his own power.

Kanti - Child of Crona and MakaFrom the first suggestion, Crona had always been nervous about having a child, due to their own upbringing. However with support from all their partners, Kanti came to be. Growing up with Crona’s worry has caused them to be reserved and nervous, but studious and curious as well. They love being with heir older siblings, even if they get up to a lot of trouble. Kanti also has some affiliation with magic, however Crona would rather they not delve too deep into their witch heritage.

If you want to know more, don’t hesitate to ask, since these are quite rough summaries. Next will be Toska, Cassius and Kami, who were more designed as ‘what-ifs’ but I love them too much.
