Petra saying "I'll have to work harder then. To make you feel safe", in response to JR saying she doesn't feel safe with her is the sexiest and most romantic thing she could have said in that moment. My girl nailed it.
I CALL OUT TO ALL THE GAYS. JANE THE VIRGIN JUST MADE ONE OF THEIR MAIN CHARACTERS BI!!!!
I have had my problems with Jane the Virgin from the beginning, not because of the writing, because the show is brilliant but because of the lack of good LGBT representation.
From the beginning they had Luisa as an out lesbian and don’t get me wrong, I love Luisa and Rose together but they can’t exactly be called good representation for 3 reasons: 1) Luisa is only a recurring and we barely see her 2) Rose, we see even less of her 3) that relationship is toxic as fuck. Hot... but toxic.
So my problem was always that although they had gay characters, I couldn’t exactly consider it representation with the lack of screen time of them together and the toxicity of it all.
Now... season 4 started and they were giving us more and more tidbits of LGBT characters. There were 2 gay bookshop owners and 2 lesbian moms, these four roles were not big by any means but they were speaking roles nonetheless and then Adam (Jane’s then boyfriend) told Jane he was bi. That episode was amazing, they actually delved into biphobia, heteronormativity and all that and they did it very well, if I may say so.
And now... Petra, a main character since season 1 who has been headcanoned bi/lesbian since the very beginning by many fans and supported as so by Yael Grobglas, the actress who plays Petra, is having a storyline where she is starting to realize that she isn’t as straight as she originally thought...
All this in just 10 episodes of a season... I never thought they would go there but they are!!!!!
Not just that but then... FREAKING ROSARIO DAWSON IS PLAYING HER LOVE INTEREST (well... more than her love interest but that’s definitely part of her character)
Their relationship has been amazing from the beginning... it definitely has the drama a la Jane the Virgin but at the end of the day Jane Ramos is someone we can see Petra finally being completely herself with and open up and not be judged and I have wanted Petra to have someone like Jane for so long and it’s finally happening!!!!
I THINK I DIED AND WENT TO HEAVEN!!!!
jane the virgin writers after introducing a gay character name jane and making petra attracted to her, thus making #jetra canon
Another note, Useless Bi Petra™ is played off for comedy, and quite hilariously so when she’s trying to pose in bed, but her admitting she hadn’t been with a woman before was an act of her being genuinely vulnerable with JR. Petra isn’t one to shy away from being dishonest, but she told JR because she truly cares for her.
Petra Solano [and Jane Ramos] // S4E10 (Part 3/?)
Why is no one talking about Petra’s smolder when JR shows up at her door
What Jane Ramos said: are you in love with her?
What Jane Ramos meant: you gay?
