Book Alert!
I finished this book a while ago, and it was so insightful, terrifying, and well written that it inspired me to use the content to write my own research paper for a class. The history of food and drug regulation in the US is both horrifying and enlightening. I feel like I have a much better grasp of what we are fighting against today after reading the history of what has already been fought for. Prepare to be disgusted and frustrated, but I would mark this as an essential solarpunk history read. Another dangers of capitalism text, for sure.
It’s still in hardback, so around $25. I got the audio from Scribd, which was excellent. Check your library too, ISBN 9781594205149. I know it’s cheaper on Amazon. Don’t do it.
