they are transfem by both human and elf standards. according to my worldbuilding, the cavern elves don't assign gender at birth, you get it when you come of age. there's a giant underground fungal entity who has become a sort of god and when that year's batch of older teens are ready to become official adults, they do a pilgrimage to the big shroom who essentially studies their astrological charts (based off the movements of celestial bodies and the natural waxing and waning of magical fields in the darklands) and grants them their gender there. male and female aren't really in that system at all, but when Solaxle came to the surface world, they fell in love with an orc lady and thought 'wow, women are so cool...I should become one'
back home in the darklands, Sol is their community's shaman. basically they tap into the fungal network to talk to the spirits of the people and creatures and world around them, using their help to cast spells, heal people, and aid in birth and death. they were taught by one of their great grandparents
when Sol first came to the surface, they weren't sure what the definition of 'cat' was and they thought it applied to any kind of small pet mammal that wasn't a rodent. so they currently have three 'cats': one skunk, one weird little dog, and an actual hairless cat
they developed a real love of fruit after becoming an adventurer and learning about new foods. my elves are mesocarnivores so too much fruit doesn't agree with them, but if Sol could get away with it, they'd probably live off cherries and melons in the summer
