for the ask game you reblogged, please may i get a (1), (2), and esp (7) or (11)? your blog has piqued my interest and i feel like those are the ones that provide some context to an artist
/np /nf ^^
My top oc designs are probably a three way tie between Rune (my fursona), a funky little guy named Petrachor, and a dragon lemur named Seraph!
And since I can’t decide who I like the best, I’ll mention something about all three.
Rune is a personification of me while still being a character, so he takes after things I am or want to be: creative, adventurous, silly, optimistic, n the like. In so, his big ol’ fox tail is a paintbrush! His glasses were also fun because I kept having to find justifications to how they stay on his face lol (currently it’s a spring mechanism that grips his snoot).
Petrachor was inspired by the idea of angelic hierarchy, and how if there’s an archangel then there’s gotta be, like, a bottom of the rung office worker intern angel, thus Petrachor. His design is based around, funnily enough, Pain from the animated Hercules, as well as MLP ponies.
Seraph is a combo lemur and dragon from @montesmithart and I liked the vibes so I made one. My favorite bit about her is her horns make a halo, which was a pain to render over and over.
Phew, that was a lot for one! On to two!
kinda touched on before, but I relate most to Rune, because he’s me to an extent. We do differ in ways, I.e. he’s a bit of a mess, clumsy as heck, and would jump tail over ears into a dangerous situation if it was cool sounding without thinking twice, but that all ends up being exaggerated aspect of myself too.
Rune is…not smart. I mean, he’s intelligent, but he doesn’t do wise things with it. He’d build a toaster by himself but it would be powered by fifty angry skunks that are seconds from breaking free. He’d doesn’t think about the consequences until he’s regretting them because they’re in his face.
My process for making oc’s is pretty varied! Rune came about after existing in my head for years as a kid long before I was an artist until eventually I put him to paper. Petrachor exists after somebody on magma (the drawing website) made an archangel and I thought ‘you know what would be funny?’ Seraph came around after seeing a cool species and wanting to make one! But the most consistent way I make oc is as DnD characters! So yeah, I do a little of all the above: Petrachor was a role I wanted to see, Seraph was a motherly vibe and a design, Rune was a fox design that evolved over years and years, and a grab back of others came from character ideas for DnD games. (For example, this is Solin, who is a DnD character who started as a faceless suit of armor character, that changed because I wanted to do someone based of fire symbolism)
Aaaanyway thanks for asking! I love to ramble, so if you wanna know more about anyone I mentioned, please ask! They all have lore of some kind!
