A solo tabletop RPG about exploring a fantastical sky realm
The third and final installment of the Vibrant Isle series! You've explored the island, and the sea around it, now visit the sky above it! Can be played as a stand alone or continued from the other two games. Gorgeous art by @ashenwaves
I'm thinking about simulating a pro wrestling fed (via one of my favorite tabletop games) and commentating the output on Youtube. I doubt that's many people's thing, but if it is your thing, I'm looking for input into what to use for the roster. More details under the readmore, but the question is, which of these sound fun to listen/watch about as wrasslers?
-Actual pro wrestlers (I'd probably just grab an assortment of my all-time faves, unless people really wanted a specific company or era)
-Fictional characters (I'd lean towards making an all-star women+enby fed pulling from a bunch of my favorite fandoms)
-OCs (Maybe take a few suggestions and roll up the rest on my own)
-Would YOU want to be one of the wrestlers, moots? I wish I could do this project with just (consenting) vtubers, but I'd be happy to do a mix of volunteers and whatever else. All you'd do would be to just give me a character idea or two and sit back to see what RNG does with you.
The game is Face to the Mat, with some heavy homebrew and house rules. It mostly plays itself, I just assign stats and make occasional executive decisions. The game lends itself to some kinda silly storytelling- previous projects have felt very 90s WCW in both the good and the bad ways.
I'm still mulling over format, but I think what I'd do is play the shows ahead of time and take notes, then add some flavor and record them for youtube. I'm thinking like a ten minute "recap" kinda thing for the "TV" shows and maybe a bit more detail/length for the "PPVs." Kinda like the 90s where they'd have C-shows that were just the announcers going back over the latest developments. Visual presentation would probably just be me talking over a graphic, zatsudan-style. (unless people really wanna look at some behind-the-scenes spreadsheets?)
Intergender wrestling doesn't bother me and is my default, but that's another thing I'd welcome input on. I'm also interested in running a no-men fed, but that might not work with every concept or potential signup.
NBA Title finals! #1 Contender battle royale! Launching Rick Steiner into the sun! Took me longer than I wanted, sadly, but not longer than I expected. Should be back to a faster pace for a while tho!
We are finally and officially underway with my pet project, a (recapped and condensed) play of the tabletop wrestling game Face to the Mat! Our first show has the entire roster in action, a royal rumble, a tournament, and way more content than the average episode will have!
I have a bunch of single-player narrative sports sim board games, and am thinking about doing a project where I use ALL of them in one big silly multi-sport tournament of fictional characters.
-Maybe someday I'd figure out a handcam and/or fancy graphics, but it'd probably be me talking over an excel sheet showing the game state
-Seems like something I should pre-record and edit down, at least the time spent rolling dice and consulting charts and possibly just boiling it all the way down to highlights
This is likely something I'm gonna do anyway, just a question of if there'd be enough interest to make it worth recording and uploading! Details under the cut in case anybody's as big a nerd about this kinda thing as I am
I'm a big fan of PLAAY, all this would be done with their stuff.
-16 teams of 10, probably based on individual fandoms (ie a Mario team, a Hololive team) but maybe some teams based on whole genres (an RPG team) or mediums (a books team).
-First round: they'll play each other in baseball (Express, if anybody actually knows the company). The losing teams will play each other in dodgeball. You have to win either one of those games to advance. (so 12 out of the 16 will survive)
-Second round: The teams are dissolved, it's now individuals. There will be a golf tournament and a tennis tournament. Both of those games have systems for narrowing down the field to a handful of finalists, so much like the first round, you have to accomplish that in either golf or the second chance of tennis to advance. I'll play out the whole thing though, it'll provide seeds for later.
-Wild card round: That won't quite be enough contestants to proceed, so I'll have some sort of runoff for people who didn't make the cut to play Fury Hardball (kinda an arcade-like baseball/cricket/wiffleball hybrid) for the last few slots. Details will be played by ear, since I won't have exact numbers until I get there, but we'd probably start with a couple dozen and narrow it to like 18.
-Semifinals: The surviving ~42 contestants have themselves a stock car race. Instead of a qualifying phase, starting positions will be based on results in golf/tennis/hardball. Top 30 advance.
-Finals: Pro wrestling! Royal Rumble style, specifically! There are a few homebrew modules I'd implement here. Entry order would be the opposite of the race results, so the winner of the race gets to enter last with a good chance at winning.
