- race is 6’6” and spot is 5’4” which is so funny to me. like, spot is pretty tall for a gymnast and race STILL has over a foot of height on him, which they both complain about but secretly kind of enjoy.
- this is my one iteration of modern au race that isn’t a druggie of some sort <3 bc like. drug testing in sports and all that, he only takes his prescribed mood stabilizers and antipsychotics (bc he’s still a mentally ill king) and smokes a little weed in the off season.
- spot is a huge habs fan (unfortunate, i know). he likes to make the fact that he’s from québec like 80% of his personality when he’s out at big international competitions and can often be seen wearing a comfy old hockey jersey on his way to and from training. the jersey that’s sorta big on spot is a crop top on race, who loves to steal it and wear it around despite not giving two shits about hockey
- both of them have lovely, supportive families and a surprising lack of tragic backstories, which is a nice change for a newsies fic! race is an only child to a single mom, and spot has adorable parents and like four siblings that i have yet to invent names and personalities for— i think he has an older brother, an older sister, and two younger sisters. they’ll exist eventually but won’t be too important to the story lol
