people can ship whoever they wanna ship — god knows our beloved robron have their own toxic elements — but you have to acknowledge the facts of kevbert that we’re being presented with here:
- robert says the words ‘i’m scared of him’
- robert talks about how kev is violent and doesn’t take rejection well
- robert explicitly states that it’s aaron he wants to be with and he was gonna break up with kev before his heart attack
- when he goes to break up with kev he makes a comment about “if i’m still alive after” so there’s a genuine concern that kev might actually kill him if his ‘uses’ run out
- kev uses violence and threatening language to multiple other people, both on screen and referenced
- they shared a cell aka a tiny space, so robert wouldn’t have wanted to antagonise the man who has access to him when he sleeps
- kev provided robert with protection in prison and robert says he “owes him” because of it
when aaron said he owed john for helping him the fandom unanimously agreed that it was toxic and john was manipulating him and it was true so i ask why it’s any different for robert? the same robert who had no friends or family to turn to for help (his own fault, i know) whereas aaron lives in a village where he’s related to half the residents and has a lot of close relationships (again not victim blaming aaron, just drawing parallels)
multiple villagers have already pointed out kev’s violent streak and mack puts it best when he talks about robert being intimidated and questioning aaron’s love for robert if he lets him carry on with this thug… it’s not being downplayed that kev is awful — what he says about gordon is proof enough of that — so i’m genuinely confused by what people see in kev / kevbert that makes them love it so much
is it because kev wouldn’t hurt robert? because killing aaron would hurt him more than any physical pain, not to mention the way he grabs robert’s arm over the watch incident. is it because kev spent so long in prison that he couldn’t express his sexuality or experience the real world? because newsflash: the guy was in there for being a criminal. like he’s an actual armed robber (and probably something more i reckon…) so he was locked up with good reason
in conclusion: kev / kevbert stans please explain what the appeal is. i’m not in any way, shape or form saying you can’t ship them because everyone has the right to do as they please and i’d never stop you or hate on any individual for it, but i genuinely do not understand. i’m not mad about the storyline tbf but i also can’t wait for it to end lol
