Hogwarts diversity headcanons: I wanted to see some Jewish wizards! Anthony Goldstein was the closest we've gotten to any non-Christian wizards just going by name alone, and I wanna see wizard rabbis debating about potions being kosher, and if certain spells are ok to use on Shabbos, did any of the students have a Bar or Bat Mitzvah their third year? What of the awful stereotypes about Jews overlapping uncomfortably with the descriptions of Goblins? On a happier note to end on, how amazing

So after much careful deliberation, for the KatW fic request thingie, I'm gonna go with that headcannon I submitted of Tahno fucking with the radio censors (and he's smoking a cigarette during the taping because that was the style at the time). Any time during his reign at the top, just giving utterly smart-ass and oftentimes innuendo filled answers and banter during a radio show. I trust your amazing writing awesomeness!:)

"I’m Shiro Shinobi coming to you live from the pro-bending arena, and welcome to the weekly Pro-bending Report! I’m here today with the one and only captain and waterbender of the reigning champion Wolfbats, Tahno!"

Tahno stuck a cigarette into his holder. “Always a… pleasure, Shinobi.” He lit it and took a long drag. Though he loved the attention, these radio interviews did get a bit tedious after a while. Everyone always asked the same questions.

"So Tahno, with the Wolfbats aiming for your fourth championship in four years, how do you feel about the pro-bending season so far?"

"Disappointed."

"Why is that?"

"I thought we’d have more competition. The other teams are hardly worth the effort. It’s way too easy to get them in the Drink, or on their backs," he answered with a grin.

An awkward silence followed as Shinobi was left trying to form a response to his comment. For someone who’d made a name busting Triads as a reporter, he didn’t seem to know what to do when faced with innuendo. Finally, he recovered enough to ask another question. “So you think a fourth championship will be coming your way in the fall?”

Tahno took another drag and exhaled slowly. “Naturally.”

"And how are you feeling about your match against the Rabiroos tomorrow tonight?"

Ah, the Rabiroos. Tahno had to admit they were one of his favorite teams, excluding the Wolfbats of course. Part of it was respect for them as worthy opponents, but more was the fact that he found the idea of a team made of attractive women very, very appealing. “Pretty good,” he began. “I always look forward to playing the Rabiroos. They’re a good team.” Shinobi’s mouth fell open at the unexpected compliment. “But what I’m looking forward to most is getting them wet.” He accompanied the last comment with a lewd grin.

Shinobi was visibly nervous now, and mouthing a word that looked like, “censors.” Tahno ignored him. “Of course, I sometimes get distracted when we play them by thinking about which one I’d most like to fu…”

What I like about them

It’s really tough to choose, but I’ll have to go w/ his fabulousness, his sass, & his sex appeal. Then there’s his hair. I can’t forget his hair. But underneath all those shallow things, I find him compelling because of the loss he endures. He’s got everything, & then we see him lose everything. Though he’s humbled by his loss, he’s not completely broken. There’s more to him than just a bullying jerk w/ fancy hair.

What I dislike about them

His cheating in the final. I find Tahno’s general douchebaggery entertaining because I don’t have to deal w/ it IRL, but I don’t like cheating.

Favourite moment

As anyone who’s followed me for a while can probably guess, the police station scene, followed closely by Private Lessons.

A situation with this character that I want to see explored more

I wanted him to join the Krew! I think Bryke really dropped the ball there. Tahno has the perfect motivation & incentive to want Amon taken down- he even makes it clear that he wants revenge! Why not have him show up to help them out in the finale?

Well I’ve talked a bit about Tahno in Harry Potter (Slytherin Quidditch captain) & Kushiel’s Legacy (very successful Camellia adept), & Disney (he’s Kuzco- it is known) so I’m not sure what other fandoms I’d stick him in. Tahno in Middle Earth is just too goddamn weird to contemplate.

OTP (or OT3+ etc…. just… favourite ship)

I don’t have a single OTP for Tahno because I ship him w/ so many people, but I do love Tahorra quite a bit. I also love Tahko, Tahno’s Love Triad, & Tahno/Fangirls.

Other ships?

I already listed most of them, but I have a liking for Tahno/Older Women. He’s totally cougar bait IMO. It’s my headcanon that he made some money on the side sleeping w/ older women during his first years in Republic City.

Gotta go w/ Tahno’s Love Triad. I’m convinced that the Wolfbats are close to each other, & I wish there was more fic of the 3 of them interacting.

An assortment of headcanons!

-His 1st time was w/ an older WT woman after he moved to Republic City. He was 15 & he did it in exchange for a good meal & a warm bed. They ended up becoming regular lovers & he learned the basics of pleasing women from her.

-He likes to make opposing teams uncomfortable by hitting on them in the locker room, often while entirely or partly naked. The benefits are twofold: the other teams will be intimidated & he might get some new lovers.

-He doesn’t have a “type”- he’s open-minded. However, he does have a thing for athletic women (see: Korra). He’s hit on the Rabiroos numerous times (I haven’t decided if he was successful or not).

-He’s very fond of seafood & is very, very good at catching fish. It’s pretty much what he spent a good chunk of his childhood in the swamp doing.

Re: Fic I'd Like to See You Write- keeping with your headcanon of Tahno not liking kids, I think it'd be amusing as hell to see him roped into babysitting, either airbabies or his nieces and nephews. I have this cracky mental image of him reading a bedtime story that's one of the society pages/tabloid articles about himself, like "And so the beautiful Prince Tahno, who has had hundreds of girlfriends, got into a fight at the bar but the other guy totally started it"

I love this idea! That’s exactly what Tahno would be like if he were forced to babysit. I’m gonna file this one away, because I may have a chance to use it in KatW Book 2.

His younger nieces & nephews would get all hyper when they saw him. Several more were born after he left the swamp, but they all know about him as “Uncle Tahno who’s a famous pro-bender in the big city.” Gran listens to all his matches on her radio, sometimes joined by other family members.

I guess it's not a headcanon super specific to Korra and the Wolfbats, but I could so see it happening at the height of his fame- Tahno is a frequent guests on radio programs, everything from sports talk to quiz shows and comedians (now I want to go back and research old radio shows!), and he was notorious for giving the censors heart attacks for his scandalous innuendo. He would so push the limits on what could be said on air!

Oh I could definitely see Tahno doing that, in both the KatW-verse & canon! He’d be in the middle of an interview about an upcoming match against the Rabiroos & would say something like, “I’m looking forward to getting them… wet.” (Let’s face it- we all know he’s hit on them at least once. He likes athletic women, if Korra’s any indication).

Sorry I took so long to answer this- this was a busy week!

First, I’d like to thank you for sending me such a nice ask. Things like this really make me feel good. I often feel kinda lonely & isolated on tumblr, so getting a message saying how much my work is appreciated is a wonderful thing. I’m glad that you’re enjoying Korra & the Wolfbats!

I love how you wrote the fangirls- there’s easy potential to make them catty and mean but I love that they’re just nice normal gals who happen to be lucky enough to ride our favorite Wolfbat, and how kind they are to Korra.

Thank you. Even though Korra feels threatened by them initially, which is only natural, I didn’t want to pit them against each other. That happens enough in both fiction & RL. The fangirls may be a bit on the shallow side, but they really do care about Tahno & each other.

I was also the one who submitted that cuckold!Mako confession, sooo I would be more that thrilled if you ended up writing it.

Hahaha that confession was perfect! I think I’m gonna have to write it, probably as an Xmas gift to the Mahnorra fandom or something.

I’ve been having lots of feels recently because of Lou Reed’s passing, and here is one of the few places I can talk about how intertwined my love for him and Bowie and Tahno are, just these fabulous, frustrating, wonderful men with their delicious deviance from the norm.

I hear you re: Lou Reed. I put the Velvet Underground & Nico back in my car this week for a tribute. Also, I’ve got several Bowie songs on my Tahno playlist. They just fit him too well.

I just don’t have too many outlets for my Tahno love:)
