When you should be practicing but you don’t because you’re depressed about how bad you sound
Soulmate AU
Hey @murderxbaby
I wrote it.
When the hospital called, Mito really hoped Gon had just broken his arm again.
By Gon standards, that was tame.
By now the nurses knew his name and his penchant for bad choices.
“Hello, Ms. Freecs?”
“Yes?”
“It’s Gon again, he’s...”
Mito heard the crackle under what sounded like a sniff.
“We think he’s met his soulmate.”
Mito hung up, and shoved the phone in her purse.
She stood up from her desk.
“I have to go.” she said, kicking her chair away and sprinting.
There was a shout behind her but she really didn’t care.
“This phenomena is pretty uncommon, even though it’s been statistically shown that every human has soulmate. Given that there are seven point five billion people on the planet, it’s unlikely you’ll meet yours.”
Mito nodded.
“That being said... everyone has horror stories. My cousin had a stroke at the drug store, and the guy on the other end of the counter had his eyes explode.”
The doctor Mito was talking to cleared her throat.
“They are happily married, but not all horror stories have happy endings.”
Mito sniffed, and wiped at the snot on her face.
“Again, that being said, you were lucky. This is one of the more tame examples we’ve seen.”
Mito cleared her throat, getting ready to speak.
“What happened to him?” She asked.
“We think he lost about 40% of his body weight.”
Mito covered her mouth and her eyes burned.
Her son was a barely a hundred pounds, where could you take almost half of that from?
“We called you first so we haven’t been able to test this, but we’re guessing he lost most of the weight in muscle and fat, with a little bit coming from lost bone density.”
Mito could have told you that.
The boy looked like a skeleton that occasionally blinked.
“Wee have him on an I.V drip to help his nutritional deficiencies, however however, there is something else, and you’ve probably noticed.”
Mito nodded to the greenish hair that lay like a scatter sheet around her son.
“His hair was originally over ten feet long, but it had to be cut to get him into the ambulance. this is what’s left.”
Mito hated the thought that crawled into her mind.
Mito hated the words crawled out of her mouth.
“It’s beautiful.”
just got hit with a big ol wave of pessimism ngl
maybe i’ll take a self defense class. that’s something to do
