The thing that always gets me whenever I think about it, and your post about Olivander recognizing Tom's wand made me remember, is that Olivander has Harry come into his shop, takes one look at him, half-assedly tries him out on one wand, and then apparently thinks to himself, "You know what wand is probably right? The brother wand to the one that killed his parents and marked him forever. Yeah. I'll go get that one. Twin cores FTW." Because it's not like Harry picks up a random wand, Olivander specifically finds and fetches it for him after like no time at all. That always cracked me up. Like is Olivander thinking about how fate has probably marked Harry with a little bit of Tom Riddle (not that he knows about the horcrux, just that magic tends to do things like that)? Obviously this isn't the case, but I like to imagine Ollivander going, "Wouldn't it REALLY be f*cked up if..."

Honestly, yeah, it was exactly that.

Ollivander said, "Would this be fucked up or what?"

And it was fucked up.

so he was talking specifically about Bobbie/Alex, which was never like a hugely popular ship but something still enjoyed by some people, and he kept going on and giving platform to the “why can’t men and women be friends???” Thing and framing it like it’s “difficult for him to explain” like shippers are so annoying and he does this all the time when he hasn’t done this in... a year or two at least.

last time he did this a bunch of expanse fans got nasty on main about the Bobbie/Alex shippers and “thanking” Ty for saying this GROUNDBREAKING take that enabled them to push their ships as “more valid” and it was a really ugly little period of time that just irritated the hell out of me as an adult and as someone who had close friends who shipped it. 

i feel like i heard that their friendship was based on one of his own so he feels defensive of it, but policing ships or the need to AGGRESSIVELY tell people it’s not canon but joking about other ships and giving them credence when they’re ALSO not canon is something he’s done before (someone made a JOKE about Bobbie and Alex and he triggered a massive pile on he said he didn’t intend, and a lot of those people are in his replies basically complaining about a very small percentage of people who think it might be nice for them) and apparently will keep doing and i don’t think that’s... a great look.

like what does it matter what people ship? you didn’t write it in the show but why can’t you say that and still let people live? why are you so hard on this ONE non-canon ship, but not draomi or jamos or amex or ALL THE OTHER ONES? why is this the ONLY one you not only can’t let go of, but are actively mean about?

some fandom/shipping spaces shouldn’t be interfered with by the creators and this... is why. it’s so unnecessary. and it’s one of my only big criticisms of Ty. i wish he could let it go so casual people who like something aren’t painted as such big annoyances or like they’re enjoying something wrong because he doesn’t like it. 

I mean now the show ship seems tainted by Casbutt Antfart but... this has been going on for years. idk.

@somethingstately IT’S SUCH A WHACKED OUT SERIES like... the magic troll shoes?? The prince just being a dog for like 90% of the show? The SINGING RING???? The mushrooms? All of the satire on the princess stories? WOLF??? Wolf was like a decade ahead of his time, let’s be real, he’s like a prescient parody of Twilight. I adore him. That scene where it’s the full moon and he’s just having 100% PMS symptoms and cuddling a rabbit to try and stay calm is AMAZING. And then there’s that scene with the toad where Tony Just Fucking Snaps  and it is SO FUCKING FUNNY. Everything about the dumb troll kid trio is so good too. And it’s like this amazing gem that no one’s ever heard of, it’s so weird but it’s SO much fun

So I have followed you for long while and always really admired you. What are your thoughts on measuring kink? (Like with tape as someone gets bigger.)

So, umm, I’m just gonna be blunt — I keep a tape measure in my bedside table in the “vibe and lube” drawer. I’m sure people do stuff with tape measures besides wrap them around their partners’ bellies after they’ve eaten a huge meal and then washed it down with, say, a 32 oz milkshake, but I can’t for the life of me think of what that stuff might be.
