Thoughts on the Zomutt petpet? I love that little guy 🖤
The Zomutt's main claim to fame is unfortunately being really expensive, as it's available almost exclusively via Test Your Strength. I say "unfortunately" because I do think this is a great petpet; it manages to be a good blend of cute and slightly creepy, which is vital for a Spooky Petpet and gives it a lot of charm.
While the name suggests a zombie mutt (dog), the design feels a little more Frankenstein-ish to me, with a strong green and gray palette, sunken eyes, horns, and four ears. The ears in particular help this look like a unique creature and not just literally a dog that's also a zombie, and the eyes give it a spooky but adorable expression, especially because the sockets aren't the same size. If it were just more easily available, it'd be perfect.
Favorite Colours:
Faerie: The faerie Zomutt is cute but not really any less spooky, adding blue and swapping green for teal and gray for white. The most notable thing are the wings, which mimic the four ears as a nice touch. The unique pose is also super cute and is always nice to see with petpets.
Robot: Once again, the robot Zomutt is not any less creepy than the original; in fact, I'd argue the completely flat red terminator eyes actually make it more creepy. The robot detailing is also good, and reads surprisingly well at the small size without sacrificing intricacy.
Mutant: Admittedly this isn't the most creative mutant out there (it looks almost more Darigan-ish than mutant), but I do like the design. The extremely grumpy expression is very charming, and I like all the details, from the longer collar spikes and the addition of claws ot the longer head horns and bigger, more detailed skull collar. Could stand to be more mutant-y, but still enjoyable regardless.
Least Favorite Colour:
Brown: You know you have an absolute banger of a petpet when the worst colour option is the worst simply because it's the most boring as a plain base recolor. Even then, I don't have any actual complaints about the brown Zomutt, which goes to show how good all these colours are.
