"My Hat's On The Side Of My Head, Same As It Ever Was" by Ramshacklin' Pete Robertson & Slack Joe Yonkel (1913)
A quote about this long-lost treasure: Posterity has largely ignored "Ramshacklin'" Pete, and in this case posterity is right. A man of no discernible talent, he emerged from the mountains in 1913, and was swiftly chased straight back there, though not swiftly enough to prevent some fool of a musicologist from recording him performing his signature tune, here unearthed for the first time in a century. A brief craze was not ignited by the inclusion of this tune in "Songs of the Hill Country", a volume of songs of dubious provenance now forgotten but for an advertisement on the back of the song-sheet "Saint Dude".

"Little Puncher" by The Ramshackle Orchestra Pete continues to dig into the back of "Saint Dude" for inspiration, this time finding "Little Puncher" from The Manly Family Song Album. The album is full of clearly manly songs like "No, I Won't Be Doing The Dishes" and "I Wish I Was Single Again." "You Looked Alright In The Dark!" by Gerhard Jason Geick Over in the hall of fame section, we have Geick's "Act One" of his Song Reader covers. He tells me Act Two is complete, and I have a few of the individual covers left to share before I put it all together as a piece. I love this idea! "Debasement Bagatelle" by Illy Mob Illy Mob continues with his mastery of instrumental creations, inspired by the song titles that are floating around Song Reader without melodies/music. This one, by the title, anyway, is one of the sequels/sisters to "Mutilation Rag." Now Song Reader is nothing if not educational, so I'm sure you're all wondering too: what the heck is a 'bagatelle'? Wikipedia says "a bagatelle is a short piece of music, typically for the piano, and usually of a light, mellow character." While Illy Mob's isn't short at all, nor is it on piano, but I think it does have a mellowness that could possibly qualify as a bagatelle. "Always Or Never Waltz" by Illy Mob After finishing all the main songs and tons of fragments, Illy Mob has moved to doing the song titles that are floating around Song Reader. On the back of "Mutilation Rag" there are a series of dances named after time: "Everyday Reverie," "Semiannual Reverie," "Inappropriate Polka," and this "Always Or Never Waltz."
