Carnival, by Rachel Rose Mitchell
This is a lovely, dark, slightly crazed song with a minor waltz beat. I’ve fallen in love with Rachel Rose Mitchel, all her music is ethereal and dark. She has a light floaty voice but at the same time it handles the heavy lyrics perfectly. Check her out!
“We can watch the world turning without you.
The merry-go-round has left you behind.
You stand hollow and soaked through
under the clouds and shattered street lights.
You stay unmoving as you wait for your turn.
If one thing is proven, it's that you never learned
how to tell when it's over.
Your carnival's gone forever.”
Genre: Misty fog wreathes around your feet and kisses your skin, cold and clammy. Out of the mist an abandoned carousel rises, paint chipping from the horses and mythical creatures that were once bright and cheery. Slowly, the carousel begins to turn, though no breeze blows. Eerie, creaky, atonal music starts to play softly as the carousel gains speed. A phantom creature watches you from the shadows, a grim smile playing across his pale lips. You are trapped here. You watch the carousel, trapped by it’s mesmerizing spin for eternity.
