Ok, so, I’m sure 4 or 6 people noticed but my old twitter account @Soniksama is now inactive. I mean, it’s in the bio but people don’t read bios, that’s silly. Back on topic.

What does this mean for me? Well I’m fine and well. I feel pretty happy about doing this and making a new account. But I shall give my reasons for why I did this.

I wanted a new start

I wanted to start over on Twitter. I was not happy with the current account SonikSama. I wanted to have a do over and make a new name for myself, and distance myself from speedrunners and some people and toxic users

While I did have “friends” on the other account. My twitter was full of friends who left Twitter or couldn’t get back in. And the other side was people that followed me cause I was friends with someone else.

I like being followed, but if, it means being followed by people who are there, just to add a number to your follower count. I am the kind of guy where if, a friendship is not mutual in any way, it’s not worth having in my eyes. This is why I followed mutuals on my new account.

And I wanted to make new friends, my old friends, I have outgrew them

And I rather not be “known” as a speedrunner on my new account. I’m not too fond of speed running to begin with. I will talk about this, later on.

I wanted to re-brand myself as something else, using Sonik has got pretty old and it needs to be a change. And my Girlfriend gave me the best name.

I followed all the people who I have a mutual friendship with, and made one exception to someone who is not a mutual.

These are reasons that you will disagree with, but they are my reasons and hope you understand, if, not, oh well. I’m not gonna worry.

You might be asking “what’s the new Twitter account, Sonik?” Well, chances are, I’m following you. I am following people I trust, and are mutual friends.

There is a chance, I might have missed some friends. As long as you are still following @SonikSama on Twitter, I will be able to find you, If, you unfollow Soniksama, I’m not going to bother to look for you.

2. Speedrunning

I have been more off then on with speedrunning games. I do see the point. Yes, you speedrun to test yourself, and see if, you can improve your skills and beat your time, and maybe beat someone else time.

I can understand the drive to be better, and that’s great. But this hobby is a mixed bag. Speedrunning can bring the very best out of people, and it can bring the worst out of people. A double edge sword

While I no longer care for speedrunning, that much, and their community, ugh, I will still do SRL races, and Individual Levels of games. Who knows, I may add speedrunning to my future games, but who knows

But I have to see what the future holds, If I do any speedruns, I will upload them to Twitch but I won’t put them on SRC, at least, the sonic speedruns anyway.

You thought I was gonna say something bad about speedrunning. Didn’t you?

3. Streaming

Ah, this is something I lost interest in. I used to enjoy streaming to entertain viewers and chat with viewers, and other streamers. But as streaming gets more advanced on twitch, the harder it becomes to entertain viewers, let alone get any viewers.

I will give my reasons why I lost interest in streaming.

Shitty ISP or Twitch messing up.

There no one to really entertain anymore

I’m a small channel, I have no way of getting noticed or entertaining people

No one really watches, as most of the stuff I have done was done better by someone else.

I don’t enjoy streaming as much (After 5 years of streaming.. Damn, it has been that long), going from entertaining viewers to no one is a bummer.

“You should not worry about views, stream for fun” That used to work back in the old days of Twitch. Today, viewers seem to watch people speedruns, people rage at games, like fools, Social eating streams, IRL streams, and new game streams.

And the most common thing is Donation streams where people pay the streamer to watch freak out from bits or to donate for their “charity” Ugh.

It seems to be a common trend. Some shit is always going down. Twitch is full of nice people, but more than often, you meet the bastard who is nice but will stab you in the back later.

People assuming that other streamers are copying them, when they themselves copy others.

Or disgusting is, people ganging up on those who were done wrong.

Why should I bother to stream when no one shows up? I can’t really compete with other streamers or have anything to offer that hasn’t already been done.

With the way Twitch is now, it’s hard for small channels like me to get anywhere. You have to stay relevant, in order to keep up on Twitch’s rat race. Yes, Twitch gives us the power to host to give small or big channels time in the light but it’s kinda worthless as it gets used on “bigger” streamers

So, to end this part, I will be doing 5 streams, assuming things go well.

Dec 5th, Dec 10th, Dec 15th, Dec 20th, Dec 25th And 31st as one bonus stream to end the last stream on new years

Once this happens, Any future streams will be for SRL races. But only time will tell how I will feel about streaming later in the future.

Sonic Hack

Boy. So I made a post about this topic. The main art for the hack is gone and level layout for Green hill Act one is, but it seems that levels that are edited will be wiped by some odd bug. So this hack is dead. It might just be a Special stage hack.

But it’s safe to say, this project is not gonna happen.

Update on Sonic hell

So, I been quiet on Sonic Hell (Sonic 1 rom), Because I was working on a fan game in click team fusion, and, that has taken away time to work on this project. That why I don’t mention it anymore.

Or rather, I have stopped working on it. But fear not. I have made this post for this event.

Why did I stop working on the sonic hack?

A number of reasons.

1. I can’t be bothered to do something, I don’t enjoy anymore

When I first started working on this project, I was happy, of course, this was before I learned or got deep into click team. My goal was to make an Sonic 1 rom hack.

I wanted to do what could be done, if I had the right tools back then. Sadly, over time I have been on and off with this project to a point, where I just lost my will to continue working on the hack.

2. I want to make games

With Click team fusion under my belt (Kind of) I want to make fan games and games. With rom hacks, I feel limited in what I can do and this feeling makes it easy for me, to not make rom hacks, it’s a feeling that is here to stay.

I find that making rom hacks are cool, but in the long run, they can only get you so far. With fan games rising up, rom hacks are slowing down, but not by much. Fan games offer a bit more, in my opinion.

3. I have no team

I have no team, and this makes this project a living HELL (Get it… I’m sorry) If I had a team to help work on this hack, it would be a bit better, but then I would have to watch and guide them, and that is more work.

So, I have two options for what I want to do with this Project.

1. Put this on a hiatus till I can find a reason to go back to this project

or

2. Hand off a copy of the source files to a friend and let them make the hack in their image

or

3. Cancel the project outright, if option 2 and 1 are a bust

The project is now dead

The future for Sonic 1 Hell (cancelled)

Hi there. Sonik here with serious type of post. It's not too serious, No one cares about it but let's go on shall we?

So I made a post talking about a new rom hack I am making. This was going to be for HyperSonic7701 and Mastakirby. A gift to them and a indirect follow up to my last hack but more complete.

Sonic Hell, the named given by HyperSonic7701, Sonic Hell is meant to be my first "real" kaizo like hack of Sonic 1, The idea is to make the game hard but fair where a player can beat the game at least.

The hack will have many things:

New Level Layout

New Special stages

Level traps

Deadends

New pathways

Secret exits

Secret traps

With all this in mind, and what I have planned, I want to say that this may take a year to 6 months to have ready after testing the game and making sure Sonic speedrunners can't break the game too easily.

So I was thinking after I complete this sonic 1 rom hack. I was thinking of moving on to Sonic 2, but Sonic 2 is a much bigger game than Sonic 1. I would assume that Sonic 2 would take 2 to 3 years tops to do a complete overhaul and that is a turn off..

Then I look at Sonic 3 and knuckles and this could take roughly 2 to 5 years tops to complete and what started off was a simple dream turned into something else. But this opened my eyes that, this would be a waste of time to work on Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 and Knuckles rom hacks.

I could take my times with the hacks and work with one at a time and that could work but more then likely, I would get burned out pretty fast which would end in me just scraping the whole thing. And that would be no good.

So here is what I am offering or plan on doing is, completing the hack (Sonic 1 Hell) and stopping there. I had "plans" and I don't want to keep making Sonic hacks. Making hacks is fine but hacks are slowing down, not by much but just enough to feel that hacks are done.

When you make fan games, everyone can play it from the start and won't need to download any other tools to play your sonic rom hacks.

But once I finish the hack, I plan on giving people the tools to make their custom Sonic 1 game / hack. I did not make the tools but I have them set up for use, If you want to use them. This is just a idea and no plans to go forward with this has been set in stone...Yet.

The Drive to make fan games is stronger than the drive to make rom hacks, but, oh well.

And now, you know the status or future the rom hacks or rom hack. I will be streaming the hack to until I reach Marble Zone then all from there will be a secret.

A side project (Sonic Hell) in works

Hello there. It is i, Sonik with a new project in the works. I want to talk about "Kaizo Sonic" A fan hack that is fun but hard. Well, the game has no name yet.

So the Hack I am working on is mainly for 2 people HyperSonic7701 and MastaKirby as a way to say thanks for being some awesome friends, I doubt they feel the same way. If they do, then yay. If not, it's fine. lol.

So you may say "What the point of this Sonic 1 hack you are making?" To answer that. Around 2010, I did plan on making another hack with a better set of tools and new plans, however, this was during the summer and I had school, drama to deal with, which in the end just made me quit working on the hack altogether.

I was young so I didn't get much done in terms of hacking. I gave sonic 1 a few more tries. In 2016, I made a rom where you could spin dash, problem being is that spin dash would work but sound would get overridden or the music would stop.

The other try was Level layout and that went fine...But For some reason, The files got deleted and I was left with nothing, Granted I didn't get very far but that still was enough to make me stop.

But when MastaKirby was playing my old hack, Sonic Beta. It was fun to see other people play my hack and try to figure out where to go or fall for traps.

Things to expect to come in the hack

6 New Special Stages

New level Layout

Longer levels

Working Eggman boxes (May or may not add this in.)

Level Select has been changed (Up, Down,Left,Right no longer works)

Spin dash will not be added, As it may / will be easy to break some levels

Spike bug will be left in.

Bosses will be harder

There will be a ton of traps

The main idea is to give Sonic 1, my take on the game, add some things and mess with the minds of Sonic players or runners

It will be a fun project to do and once that is done, I have plans to work on Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 but...Those are going to be way, way, way down the line. I plan to work on making fan games. Sonic 2 & 3 won't be forgotten but they are not my main thing I want to work on.

I want to say that I will not ask for beta testers, as I want this hack to make people feel like they're playing a new Sonic 1. I do have plans on remaking my hacks in Game Maker which will be fun to do

But that's all I want to say on this side project. This will or may be my last Sonic 1 hack depends on how things go. I may make a mini hack that focus only on special stages but I will have to see after.

Pantufa the Cat DX review

Pantufa the Cat DX is a Sonic Rom hack that has been made into it’s own game. A platformer of sorts. I would say this is more of an fan game than a rom hack. But nevertheless, it’s a rom hack of Sonic the hedgehog 1, and it adds new things to spice things up.

What does Pantufa the Cat DX have to offer players? Trial and error platforming, now this is not so bad, games like cuphead, Wings of vi, and I wanna be the boshy, all have this trial and error theme. It’s in place so some players can’t “hold” Right to win, much like the Sonic games of late. There’s no challenge there in Sonic games, it’s too simple, and has made some players “soft” when a game offers a real challenge, akin to cuphead, wings of vi. They hate it.

Story?

Pantufa the cat offers some good platforming challenge for you to enjoy. play as Pantufa the Cat, and visit the 6 brand new zones with new layouts, new set pieces, and new traps.

Duck hunt dog has turned rouge with his super powered NES, and he is hell bent on taking out Pantufa, it seems but Pantufa has something to say about that.

New to this game is a new move. The parry Jump that allows Pantufa to avoid damage for a few seconds and the new “Infinity shield” that keeps the player safe from everything apart from getting crush..

There is no lives, given the fact that it running with the trial and error theme, and there is a health bar that the player has. It can be re-filled by breaking a monitor with a paw icon or collecting 20 coings will also re-fill part of your health

I guess the only issues I have with this game is that, Hazards and enemies seem to be place in spots where you have no way to react in time. Checkpoints in the later levels are far off, to a point where they are near the end of the stage or boss but that is fair, since it is late game, things ramp up.

Some hazards seem to have a wider hurtbox  and there were un-fair deaths, and the game seems to have slowdown when respawning at a checkpoint but these are nitpicks.

The whole trial and error in a Sonic game is a turn off for some.

Overall, Pantufa the Cat DX left a somewhat pleasing feeling after beating a hard game that offered a real challenge and the feeling of overcoming it was even better.  I went into this game having very low and mixed feeling towards the game but after playing it, I was wrong, and I’m glad.

Pantufa the Cat DX is the reason why gamers need games like this, When there is a real challenge that the player can’t beat, they forfeit or give up because it’s not easy. Gamers today have gotten weak and soft. If you can hold right, then that is the challenge that THEY want but DON’T need.

Pantufa the Cat DX is a decent platformer that offers a consistent challenge through out the game, and fun can be had here. The game rewards skilled play, instead of speed.

As I said, Pantufa the Cat DX is a decent platformer, that is, if, you go into this game knowing that it’s not a sonic game then you will have a better time. If, you go into thinking it is going to be a Sonic game, you are not going to have a fun time.

It’s far from perfect, but if you love trial and error-like games, and like a good platformer with Challenge, Pantufa the Cat DX should suit your needs.

Sonic Beta Release

So, Something I wanted to do a long time is, to create Sonic 1 rom hacks, and shocking, I did do it.

Granted, the hack of Sonic 1, I was making never got completely done due to drama and life, but, it got close to being done. But, I know you don't care or maybe you do. But Enough talk; have at you!

In the zip folder below, I will give a good idea of what you are getting here.

Sonic Beta (Kaizo Sonic)

You get all the versions of the hack, The full thing or pack

Each version of the rom has new Level layouts or different layouts

Each version may have a minor or major change to the layout

I want to say that Version 4, 5, 6 are more finished than the rest.

Scrap Brain Act 2 still throws an error, due to placing an Object that has not been made for the stage/game.

Special Stages are still the same, unchanged.

Sonic 1 Chaos

This is a hack that kinda started the whole Kaizo Sonic for me.

This hack demo features Green hill with pits and spikes.

Before Kaizo sonic was a thing. This was the start of something great.

This only has Green Hill act 1 done, kinda but the stage is still bugging and needs tweaking but I don't have the files anymore.

Act  2 of Green Hill is broken, But you can beat it, I think.

AQWROCKS AND TEALGAMEMASTER

AQWROCKS AND TEALGAMEMASTER is an attempt at trying to create a custom Sonic the hedgehog 3 and Knuckles rom (S3&K) However, at the time Sonic tools couldn't edit much or had trouble trying to editing levels which normally would cause the Hack to look like this.

This hack is or can be seen as a concept hack of sorts.

The hack only has 1 Custom Special Stage

And 1 % of Angel Island has been edited/messed up

The stage BG bugs out and turns Black or glitches out with Tails only.

But entering a Bouns stage, Special Stage, or dying will fix it.

This can be an idea for later.

This was made using the tool: Esrael Sonic Editor II (Outdated, but works well for beginners)

This was all done for the YouTuber known as (TGM) or TealGameMaster

Fun fact: I named my hack after an awful video I made on youtube, 8 years ago.

In the sonic 1 hacks I have, you can't spin dash or do the super peel out. Sorry.

You can run, walk, jump, roll. That's it. And The spike bug has been left on to make it harder.
