Bombus pensylvanicus on Opuntia engelmannii / American Bumblebee on Desert Prickly Pear at the Sarah P. Duke Gardens at Duke University in Durham, NC
Saw this rare Sonoran Bumblebee, a slim bumblebee, in my neighborhood park. Never saw one before. It might be here because of the unusual monsoon season.

@coleopteratin submitted: Sorry for the bad pictures, I believe that this is a Sonoran Bumblebee. Found in central Texas, San Antonio area roughly a week ago. This was the only one I saw and I look in that bush every time it blooms for more.
Bee butt!!! That last pic is great. It does indeed look like a beautiful fuzzy Sonoran bumble bee. Hope you get to see more!
