and honestly what was the point of discouraging young people from id-ing as asexual. they either decide they are or realize they’re not. using the status of “part of the gay community” as a reward for being a good and valid marginalized sexuality is such a stupid thing to do i wish that during the height of ace discourse when people said You’re Not Part Of The LGBTs ace people would’ve just said okay whatever. what does it even matter.

I know I can't expect a lot given that the y-series genre is not very sophisticated generally and that fandom is just Like This, but I am bummed to see people equate "I don't like this story" with "this is a bad story".

The show has been setting up the parent conflict as the primary conflict for the whole show. It's quite clear that both kids feel their parents' disapproval is a big deal -- Pat is narratively established as thinking his father's opinion is important and Pran is incredibly hesitant and concerned about others' opinions through the whole series.

While a lot of viewers wanted to think their anger with their parents meant they overcame these obstacles, I didn't really see that. They were torn up about it!!

Parental disapproval is a big obstacle, particularly if you like your parents -- even if you're mad at them for it, it's hard to put your parents' feelings out of the equation.

Also this isn't a morality tale -- it's part of why it feels authentic and real. The characters are all flawed and I appreciate that.
