There's something that I can really appreciate about Daemons of the Shadow Realm. In most series there really isn't much in the way of tension concerning the protagonist's safety. You know they're going to get out of any situation somehow. But things are a bit different with Yuru, because the author wrote in him potentially having one resurrection and a power-up locked behind him having to die to get it. So while yes, he will still eventually be fine, he still has a fatally disastrous defeat hanging over him like the Sword of Damocles. Every fight from here on out will have the question of "Will this be the one that gets him?" along for the ride until the trigger on that plot point is finally pulled. The tension has been reestablished by tying it in to anticipation.

The fact that Yuru can no longer trust anybody or anything and is completely unfamiliar with the society he's now in thus has no idea where the killing blow might come from is just icing on the cake.

The end is nigh, hopefully, at least for now until we get an announcement for a fourth series.

A look back at the cast this season so far. Slightly spoilery for the finale.

Due to the rebrand there was plenty of press this season. We got print interviews, video interviews, magazine covers,

a concert, and once again the show will be making their way to San Diego for Comic Con, with a notable exception.

Sam Reid is doing the play DOUBT in Australia, so it's understanable that he won't be there; but as it is a musical season I am astounded that Daniel Hart or, at least, Reid's vocal coach Matthew Santos (who also performed with Sam and Daniel at the Deacon Theater concert/premiere in June).

Speaking of the concert - AMC+ will air it Sunday, August 23rd. SDCC will have a sneak peak of it.

The concert/premiere brought out the new cast members, along with the old.

We had a large influx of cast members this season and one theory going around was that each color on the character posters represented teams: Neon Pink for Team Lestat and Lime Green for Team Armand.

And as it stands, it checks out because Alex, of course, goes to Armand's side and Salamander was the Armand fanboy.

Though he did plant the seeds for the Armand take down "Big Boss" with his song "Big Bus".

Ryan Kattner made sure Salamander saw the light and switch allegiances.

Merrick is Team Lestat! How wonderful was Sarah Afful?!

There are deviations, though.

Ghost!Claudia stands firmly Team No One.

Sam, you are the father.

Just like Lestat and Gabs.

And Akasha has no team, but herself.

-I am not afraid to admit when I am wrong. Very early on I was preparing a bed and grippy socks for Lestat in the Khia Asylum, but now I am a convert.

Sorry, you lot. You're not getting Lestat.

The songs are excellent. I, like Jacob Anderson, is a fan of "Brutal Love", but I do love "Cabbage".

Currently finishing up twd and I must say, when people said the show went downhill after like S7-8 they weren't kidding.

I love Lydia and some of the other characters that were introduced in these later seasons but I would choose Carl over EVERYBODY literally any day.

Like don't get me wrong, there are certain arcs that were cool for a moment or in concept.

Like the Whisperers was cool for a time but it wasn't a strong enough arc to last an entire season like this show does.

Unfortunately it relies too heavily on like ig whatever happens in the comics (outside of killing off Carl) and it's like some of this stuff may pass under dropping a certain amount of chapters/issues but in a show setting?

These important storylines are really only developed enough to maybe last 10-15 eps, not an entire 20 sumn season. So the fact that the last two seasons break the usual mold that the previous seasons had set with only having 16 eps per season, by having 20+ is one thing but on top of that having the weakest storylines in the show really is detrimental to the show as a whole.

And you can tell by how the story starts to wane in quality and even low-key how they film it too. So unfortunately I might just consider the show having ended like season 6-7 somewhere round there.
