Susuwatari, also called soot sprites, are small beings from the films of Hayao Miyazaki. They are black and furry, round, with large eyes and thin limbs. They are quick, strong and sneaky.
Susuwatari inhabit empty houses, and will watch anyone who moves in closely. If they see that the new tenants are good people, they will leave the home.
