I'm not gonna say I dislike the later seasons of twd cuz that's not true, but god there's just some magic in the first two seasons. That's my crack cocaine of television and I will never get over it. In the later seasons everything just feels so big "we have to fight this huge society to protect our three different civilizations!!!" They basically have to save the world. The early seasons just feels so unexplained and like you're out exploring a small town and forest with your friends. It's down to earth and cozy which is something I really miss later on.
You were with your parents on the highway. People were running around and screaming. You had lost your cane while being dragged around by your panicked parents.
While running your hand slipped from your mother’s hand. You heard her calling out your name, as well as your father’s voice. By every second they were getting farther and farther away.
Suddenly a hand grabbed you by your wrist and pulled you away. A voice was speaking to you, but you couldn’t understand them.
Out of nowhere, you were pushed into what seemed like a car seat. Just as you register what happened, the vehicle began to move. Tears were streaming down your cheeks, but yet, you didn’t make a noise.
You drove for what seemed like hours. The air in the vehicle was getting cold. The person that took you didn't seem like starting to, until-
"You haven't got hurt, did you?" It sounded like a man. His voice was still dripping with panic.
Still too scared and shacken up, you shook your head. A sigh was heard from the person, more like a reliefed one.
The drive went on for longer, till it stopped. Until then, your tears have stopped. "Wait inside." He ordered and stepped out of the vehicle.
Seconds turned into minutes, and the door opened again. "OK, so- uhm.. we're joining the refugee camp up ahead. They have agreed that we coudo join them, so... yeah." He sounded unsure, trying to figure out the right words to explain what happened outside.
Not getting a response from you, he began to drive, slower this time. This time it truly passed by around half an hour till you stopped again.
He once again stepped out of the vehicle, but after a few seconds his voice rang out, "Hey, uhm, aren't you coming?"
You nervously picked on your nails as you took a deep breath. "I- I am blind..." but, it seemed like the man hadn't heard it.
"Sorry, what did ya say? I couldn't understand you." It maxd you shrink in your seat, sweat dripping down your forehead. "I am blind."
There was an uncomfortable silence following after it, till an, 'oh..' was heard from the other person. It sounded like realization mixed with sadness at the same time.
Then, suddenly, a bunch of apologies spelled oit from him. It was sudden and made you perk up. Your head was directed in the direction where his voice came from,
"Please, don't apologize. You haven't done anything! And most of all, it's not your fault!" A nervous smile stretched itself on your face, and with your hands, you waved it/him off.
It was silent again fir a few more seconds again, before he said a simple 'ok.' And with that he closed his door. To your surprise, he opened the door beside you. "Is it okay for you, if, ehm, I hold your hand? To help you of course! Sorry, jf that, sounded weird."
You nodded your head, and with that, held out your hand hesitated. The man just placed his plam on your own. He just placed it on. "If you're uncomfortable with me holding your hand, you could also hold my wrist or only one of finger?"
It rather sounded like a question than a suggestion.
With another nod from you, your fingers slowly traveled up to grip onto his, jacket? It felled like a jacket. So, you kept your grip on to the edge his jacket and slowly, with the man's help, got out from the vehicle.
Now standing on your feet again, uoy could feel strays od the sun touching you, birds chirping covering the still panicking city that felt like miles away. The air wasn't that pleasant. It smelt like blood, the iron stench settling itself into your nose.
But, the peace quickly went away by the sound of multiple strong voices ruining it. You could only guess that they were from the military with how loud and bossy they sounded.
And that's how the next days passed by. In the end you stayed with the man that 'took' you. You learned that his name was Glenn Rhee. He was a nice man, and also caring.
The camp was alright. Well, on obe side it protected you from the undead walking outside of the walls. Buy, on the other hand, it didn't protect you from the living inside.
Most of the adults didn't take you seriously because of your disability, or rather just ignored you. The kids were awkward to be around, they acted as if you were made out of glass. Some even made fun of your disability.
To your luck, if you want to call it, the refugee got overrun by walkers, as Glenn likes to call them. It (the refugee) could only withhold the deaths for about two weeks. Weak.
In the end you two escaped with some people. During the process you could hear two younger children cry. As well as a lot of swearing from men.
This time you stayed at a camp with those strangers, and Glenn! It was really awkward.
Most of the time you helped the women washing the clothes, and that's practically everything you were able to do there. You couldn't help on any runs, or do any homework. Like little Carl or sweet Sophia.
There were some handful of times Amy and Andrea took you fishing. It is nice of them, but it seemed like pity - more of from Andrea.
Dale. Dale is also caring and sort of a grandfather, but with overprotectiveness. He's always on the lookout for any walkers. Sometimes telling scary stories of them, or stories from his own childhood.
Theodore, or also called T-dog, how could you describe him, is a- older brother slash uncle? Sometimes, he acts like he is cool with everyone, and the next minute he would throw hands with everybody. But, most of the time only with the dixon brothers.
The Dixon brothers, Merle and Daryl. The two Glenn warns you about all the time, just like Carol does. You haven't really talked to them yet, but have heard a lot from them. One of those two is swearing atleast every minute. But, they're also very important in the group. They're responsible for the food you're eating every night!
There were also Lori and Shane, two nice people. The woman seemed like a very caring mother, most of the time dotting on her son, Carl. She would also try to entertain sometimes or do some activities with you, in some way. And Shane, he was a bit bossy, but it was bearable. So, he was nice at least. They also seemed very closed.
Amongst all the adults were four other children: Carl, Sophia, Eliza and Louis.
Carl is, you could say, the most childish of all four. Luckily, he still has his innocence and doesn't acknowledge the world as much as the others do. He also always tries to get you to join in activities, or at least try talking with you.
Sophia, she is very quiet and reserved. But, when she talked she was very polite and her voice was very light. It was pleasant to listen to her talking when she talks about her life when she went to school and her friends there.
The Morales children were-... also more to themselves. They rarely tried to talk to you, seeming kind of intimated by you, but aren't rude or anything.
Then there were also Ed and Carol Peletier, the parents of Sophia. Carol is very sweet and caring, just like Lori. But also reserved like Sophia. As the saying goes, mother like daughter. You’d often hear Ed shouting, most of the time toward his wife. Glenn told you to stay away from the man, somewhat along the line of being abusive and having anger issues.
Jaquci and Jim were nice. You didn't interact with them that often as with the others, but they were always ready to lend a hand.
Lastly, Glenn. He's the one that spends most of his time with you, and the other way around. When he's not on supply runs, of course. He would also be the one trying to teach you how to survive now, teaching you how to cook, even though you learned it already in school.
Slowly, you all settled down, as best as it was possible. Everyone had their own duty. Once in a while there were some big arguments, but Glenn would pull you away.
But everything went down the drain the day Merle was left during a supply run and a new man joined. Apparently Carl's father and Lois's... husband? Girl what the actual fuck?!
summary : daryl places a flower behind carol's ear, and it gives you an idea

Morale was low, which considering the situation, wasn't that odd. The quarry had been overrun, the people you got to know for months dying in front of you. Then, it was the CDC. The false hope for a brand new start was momentary, seeing as it only lasted a blissfully ignorant twenty hours.
Now, everyone was clamored around a white house, surrounded by a haven of fields. Sophia was missing, Carl was shot, Shane and T-Dog were injured, and the kind man named Otis was dead as the result of scouting out medical supplies for the little Grimes boy.
You soon meet the blinding gaze belonging to the ragged Daryl Dixon. He was a hostile man, but you had taken careful notice of his "hidden" demeanour. You could tell, with these little glances sent to you oh, so often, that he was watching. Not in a creepy way, but more so as if he was trying to keep track of you. Like he wanted to ensure you weren't harmed in the small intervals between your sightings. If that didn't scream sweet, you didn't know what would.
As your eyes met his gaze, his fierce blue eyes immediately dropped to the ground. He turns, going to find a place to set his own tent up, as everyone else was doing. Hershel, the owner of this farmland, agreed to the group staying until Carl healed and we found Sophia.
Some time passes on the seemingly calm farm. Despite finally receiving what people would call a blessing nowadays, everyone was behaving like little children. People were treating Carol poorly for the mere hope she held onto about her daughter still being alive out there.
Daryl had even gotten hurt in the midst of all the teenage-like gossip. He speared himself upon one of his arrows and returned hardly alive, carrying Sophia's dolly with him.
You had been taking care of him inside the Greene house. That was, until he retreated to his tent on the outskirts of the farmland.
You were trailing around the campsite, offering people food in hopes of everyone cooling off some of their stress. Daryl was one of the last people you tackled, despite him having a gravitational pull of anxiety and stress to him.
You're walking towards his self-proclaimed spot by the treeline. You can see him hunched against a tree, his hands are tense as he angrily sheds the shavings off of a stick.
"Daryl?"
"Ain't fishing anyone f'r y'a neither, girl." He says immediately in response, his jaw tight with barely bottled anger.
Your eyebrows furrow as you look down at him, then over your shoulder. You had passed an angry Lori on your way over, and seeing his expression kind of pieced it together.
"What? No, I'm just out here to see you. You haven't been around everyone else much anymore.. well, besides Carol." You say, looking down at him with a tilted head.
Before he could even muster a response, you plop down next to him, offering a smile when he looks at you. Your gaze drops down to his hands, watching curiously for a moment.
"Saw that flower you gave Carol. It's really pretty. I think she's wearing it in her hair now, actually," you begin. Obviously, you were trying to get some sort of a conversation out of him. He only responds with a grunt.
"Have you ever had flowers in your hair before?" You quiz, trying to get some response from him.
He looks up at you, his eyes narrowing. His hands halt in action for a moment. A scowl appears on his dry lips.
"Don't make fun'a me. Not in the mood." He says, making your eyebrows furrow again. His gaze lowers again, glaring at the stick like it was the source of all his moodiness.
"I'm not making fun? Just curious... So, that means no?" You continue, your hands fidgeting in your lap.
He huffs and turns his focus to you again.
"No. Ain't no girl, don't need any'a that shit on me. Merle'd kick ma' ass if he saw that." He says quietly, sounding more defensive than authoritative like he wanted.
You hum, acknowledging his words as you watch him back with just as much intensity in your gaze. You purse your lips slightly in thought, looking in the little meadow of grass around you two.
Up came blossoming wildflowers, popping up beautifully as if they didn't get the memo that the word was over.
You pluck one, a pretty little daisy, and twirl it around in between your fingers. You watch it, admiring the way the petals would twist in the wind. You looked back up to see Daryl already watching you. You smile, leaning forward a little, the daisy raised in your hand.
He immediately backs up, lowering his head a little closer to his shoulders as he avoids your hand. His back is now fully pressed against the tree stump, watching as you continue your ministrations.
Your tongue pokes out between your lips in concentration.
"What'ch'a doin', girl? Quit it," he says, attempting to be stern.
"Nothing, just stay still for a second. You won't even feel it." You say, before quickly placing the daisy halfheartedly into his greasy hair.
"Jus' said Merle'd-"
"Well he's not here, is he? It's just us, Daryl. Frankly, I like this look too, so quit worrying." You say, ordering him like a petulant little kid.
He glares up at you. You'd be dead if looks could kill. You simply smile back, showing him his dumb façade wasn't working on you. You reach around, plucking up another wildflower before placing it into his hair too.
Surprisingly, he didn't twist away anymore, but still grumbled harsh words under his breath.
Soon, you've gotten plenty of those little flowers into his dark hair. It was an odd sight, but so endearing. He looked up at you, his cheeks tinted red as you just stared at him.
"What're ya starin' f'r, girl? It's annoyin'." He deems, tearing his gaze away and back to his lap.
"You look nice, that's why I'm staring. You're not glaring like a kid forced in a ugly Christmas sweater anymore. That means I can see those big blue eyes too," you tease, a grin already breaking out onto your lips.
This comment got his face even more red, even reaching to the tips of his ears. He groans, glaring at the ground now.
You tuck a strand of his brown hair back, making sure his face wasn't as hidden as he wanted.
"You know, you're probably the only person that would let me do this. Everyone else is too piled up in their own issues, especially that whole love-triangle thing. Thank you, Daryl," you say as sweetly as possible.
He pauses, looking up at you. It was true, everyone was occupied in their own stuff. The group was starting to crack, and at any moment, would shatter.
"What'ch'a thankin' me f'r? Ain't done nothin'." He says quietly, looking at you, trying to understand what was going on in that mind of yours.
"Well, that's a lie. You've been doing more than anyone else here. While everyone else is busy with their own issues, you're providing for the group in more ways than one. Plus, this was really fun. I loved seeing you get all red. It was cute," you say, a grin appearing at the end of your little speech.
"Ain't cute neither-" he's interrupted by the press of your lips to his forehead. You kiss just below where Andrea's bullet grazed. He becomes rigid, his mind going blank. You pull away, smiling down at him.
"Thank you, Daryl." You repeat smugly, knowing your effect on him.
Despite the innocence of your actions, you might as well have done this most intimate act with him right there, seeing how he was now.
You laugh softly before getting up and leaving him like that. His face burns red, his eyes stuck glaring at the ground. His body was tense, and, of course, flowers bloomed from his dark hair.
Much like the symbolism of them growing from the ground, they gave Daryl some hope for this world and the splitting group. His hope grew because of you and your presence.
You were his own version of those pretty wildflowers, now sitting on the top of his head.
