EXTREMELY EPICCCC I LOVE THE DOUBLE JAWS. THE ONLY DESIGN FLAW I CAN SEE WITH THIS IS:

(btw im assuming this thang is a mammal type thing so if its not tbh disregard this. if its supposed to be insectoid im so fucked idk what kind of shit goes on with insects)

the space in between the two upper jaws where they spread apart to open. those upper jaws would probably be a plate of bone right. so you'd need a 'lip' to cover it. because you know. you dont want teeth and gums exposed to air and dirt and debris and shit and have saliva evaporate right out of the mouth. but THE THING IS that those bone plates in the vid look kind of tightly packed together so that a skin flap wouldnt be able to fit between them when theyre closed without getting pinched. so my recommendation would be either:

A: there is a thin 'frenulum' connecting the two jaw plates. in which case there needs to be a gap between the jaw plates where the loose skin can rest in when the jaws are not extended outwards. maybe like a 1/3 or 1/4 inch gap it doesn't have to be very big (well i guess it depends on the overall size of this critter but you get the point.) the frenulum would be like wrinkled up and a bit saggy in the middle when the mouth is closed since it isn't stretched. probably bulging outwards a little. depending on how far apart the jaws can stretch. its like the extra skin btween ur thumb and forefinger. baggy when thumb is close to the palm and taut when thumb is extended away (like making an L w/ ur hand). and the extra skin bulges inwards (towards your palm) when you have ur thumb close to the palm.

ORRRR..

B: have both the upper jaw plates NOT be connected with skin. this way the plates can be closer together but it would need something to kind of 'seal in' the mouth. so i would suggest... like you know how dogs have those weird thin ridged black lips on the sides of their mouth? yeah buddy. have those between the two plates. that way they would need less clearance between the jaw plates and it would still hold in the moisture of the mouth. it would really only be visible if the critter opened the jaw plates otherwise it would just look like a black line. you know. like with dogs

anyway thanks for coming to my giant ted talk about. skin flaps.. (if you're wondering what my thoughts are on the attachment of the head arms to the neck.. i think head arms are fucking badass but i don't know about arms to know how they attach to anythingggg)

I'm glad you like it! This is an alien, so you can't really neatly draw any comparisons to either mammals or insects. It is endoskeletal, though. This is merely a biomechanical study of course, the design is far from finished, you're basically just looking at an exposed skull.

The current idea is that the "double jaws" are sort of this organism's answer to the muscular lips of mammals. They do have actual soft-tissue "lips," but said lips have very few muscle attachment points of their own save for the corners of the mouth, and are mostly static like a reptile's. Instead, much of the "lip" movement is facilitated by the frontal jawbones, giving them something of a "bone lip." I don't imagine there being a frenulum connecting between the premaxilla (upper lips), but some moisture-trapping extraoral tissue like you suggested for B is closer to the rough image I have in my mind for these beings' facial features.

This is subject to change, but currently I imagine their eyes have a structure that resembles an intermediary between the soft tissue camera eyes of cephalopods and the hardened principal eyes of spiders. The eyes themselves are rotating, soft-tissue spheres with optic nerves that connect from behind the photoreceptor cells, but the lenses of the eyes are hard, transparent external caps. Whether they have an equivalent to an iris or utilize a spider-like "sunglass" mechanism however I haven't quite figured out yet.
