Classic Sonic over SoR2 Skate

Most speedruns of beat’em ups are incredibly boring because you can’t do much to make the game go faster. Usually people just set the game on Easy or Normal Mode, memorize where enemies spawn by heart, and just keep spamming a cheap move. But this was really entertaining to watch not only because Streets of Rage 2 is the best beat’em up and honestly makes Final Fight look really bad next to it but because this guy is playing on Mania difficulty, which is just an incredibly brutal level of difficulty. This is less of a speedrun and more of an incredibly expert playthrough of SoR2, showcasing a lot of great techniques, exploits and honestly even shining a spotlight on the many different interesting enemy AIs and patterns. The player is always at the extreme danger of being ganged up and killed at most given moments and the struggle here feels less like doing things fast and more like doing things very cleanly. Commentary was excellent at explaining all of it. You’d think they’d run out of things to talk about quickly and most of this video would just be donation reading, but they go all the way to Stage 4 non-stop explaining the game and what’s happening at any given moment. Maybe part of it is that I really love SoR2 but I dunno I really liked watching this
