Chilltobember Week 2 - Falling
Wrote a semi cute fic with the focus being: "But what if the keyblades could be humans for solo missions and stuff?" This takes place somewhere vaguely during KH3.
The silver haired keyblade closed his eyes and thought back. Sometimes he loathed recalling events. He always shivered when he recalled the time Riku misused him and he went back to Sora. It wasn't fun. But sometimes it's worth the risk of comfort if it means he can see his face once more. After all, love is quite the powerful thing. Ah, why did he fall in love with someone he could never have?
Maybe it wasn't Kingdom Key's fault. Maybe it was the lack of foresight. It wouldn't be shocking on his end. Or maybe it was the fact that the other keyblade was so nice even though he foresaw his fate. It doesn't matter, in the end. The past is the past. Nothing that either of them could change that.
He closed his eyes and hummed. The image of a black haired male in the beautiful moon light. The odd tuft of feathers falling in his hair with a bat wing helping maintain the overall shape. It was interesting. The keyblade looked happy almost. They left the dark margin with their owners and ended up meeting up with Destiny's Embrace. She was a nice girl.
But Kingdom Key had already grown attached. This newish keyblade was sweet and kind. Although he was blind in one eye. KKL recalled how he explained that he sewed up his eye so he didn't have to see the part of him he loathed. Ah, KKL missed his aloof friend.
They only knew one another for a short time. At most a month. But, they swiftly grew close. Something about the keyblade's aloof but highly Riku tendencies made KKL like him more. Whenever Sora and Riku were together, Riku's new keyblade and him weren't far behind.
But alas, the last time they got to speak was in Sora's heart. He remembered that conversation vividly.
"Light," the keyblade breathed softly. The sunset was enchanting. The two watched as Riku talked to each heart protected by Sora's light.
"Yes, Dawn?" Sora was so sweet, and Kingdom Key was glad he chose him over Riku.
"This is goodbye," the silver haired male suddenly stiffened. After a moment he nervously began to laugh.
"Good one Dawn," he managed to get out. "I thought," he turned to look at Dawn before his voice fell. He saw a tear leave Dawn's eye. "You're not joking, are you?"
"I wish Light. After this, we won't see much of one another. And then, you need to be strong. Please welcome my replacement with open arms. Catch him up properly. A war is coming. Don't let Master Riku and Owner Sora lose heart and grow apart. Riku really does love him you know." The male sighed. His arms crossed against his chest. The other keyblade just sat there reeling from the dump of info.
"No," he started. "No, there is no such thing as goodbye! We'll see each other again! We have to." He clasped his hands around Way To Dawn arm. "You aren't leaving us. You can't!"
Dawn sighed and moved his arms and drew closer to the Kingdom Key. He carefully hugged the shorter keyblade and rubbed his back in a soothing manner.
"I've never seen you this emotional. And I apologize. We can't change fate. Even if we could, I would overstay my welcome." The male carefully rested his head on top of the others. He could feel the warm wet sensation of tears falling onto his clothing. Kingdom Key was rarely this emotional. Both knew it.
The keyblade sighed and opened his eyes. He still missed the oddly aloof but tender keyblade. Everyone else took his death quier lightly. Oath and OB manager to carry on even though they knew him longer. KKL was the only one who was attached enough to mourn. It hurt that he couldn't morn for long, there was a war coming and he had to be strong for Sora.
