Batman Paladin AU Thoughts (because I need to get them sorted):

Bruce is a Redemption Paladin (though resorts to violence more than a 'typical' redemption paladin because of his own training/being hardened by Gotham). He took on the others for training, but not all took an oath/became a paladin.

Dick and Cass took the Oath of Redemption, same as Bruce. Jason was training to take the oath, but after dying became a Vengeance Paladin instead (and took on the All-Blade). This ties into their main disagreement after Jason returns.

Not all of the bats/vigilantes are paladins. Steph and Kate in particular I don't really see as paladins (Damian is really iffy for me). Barbara I can maybe see as a 'Oath of the Watchers' paladin, but that's honestly more Tim's style (due to his canon monitoring of cults). I want to say Duke is a typical 'Oath of Devotion' paladin, except instead of devotion to a god his devotion is to the tenants of the oath itself (if that makes sense).

Main stories I would do (if I could :p) is a rewriting of UtRH and a longer work around Gotham being cursed (I'm always partial to it being built on a cursed swamp) and the group having to deal with that. Undecided if they'd be able to end the curse or just the constant battle to weaken it/stop it from completely taking over the city.

Idk, if anyone else has thoughts or their own 'here's what I think', I'd be open to hearing them or discussing the AU further.

i feel like itd be really funny if someone made a goncharov (~2025) version of goncharov and everyone on tumblr was like oh my god this sucks this completely defeats the point of the original and they tried too hard to make katya a girlboss and they turned the queer subtext into queerbait for marketing purposes and martin scorsese would be ashamed of this but like everyone’s in on the joke so it’s funny

like ik goncharov is a dead meme but this just blasted itself into my head at 12 am as thoughts do when i’m trying to sleep at a normal time instead of 4 am which is when i have to wake up for my flight

Okay, another possible hot take: I don't think Jason is big on the romance genre, but rather Romanticism, the cultural movement.

One: a number of books and authors he reads/references fall under Romantic literature (some satire/critical of the movement, but are still considered as part of it) - Alexandre Dumas, Herman Melville, and Jane Austen are the ones I remember are in the comics. Other notable Romantic authors are the Brontë sisters, Mary Shelley, and Nikolai Gogol.

Two: defining traits of the Romantic movement were emphasis on individuality, emotion, isolation, and celebrating stories about 'common people'. Which sounds right up Jason's alley let's be honest.

Actual literary scholars are free to add their thoughts because I'm just an amateur literature enthusiast, but yeah.

Not sure if I'll get it out, but current fic of focus is another vampire Tim, full ghost Danny fic where Tim creates a body just for Danny to possess cause...ghost. But!! since he's a vampire his lust is overdriven by bloodlust and so while jumping Danny's bones he ends up draining the body and they're right back to where they started

I do like 'Starling' as Danny's main nickname/pet name for Tim, mainly for the double entendre, but also starlings deserve more recognition so I will also be inserting them whenever I can

Dick Grayson can NOT have Eldest Daughter Syndrome because he was an adult man and moved out by the time Jason was brought in.

Eldest Daughter Syndrome comes from giving up your childhood because you were forced to take care of your younger siblings in a way that prevented you from experiencing it (and it's expected of you because you're a Daughter). Having to cook dinner every night instead of playing outside, not having a doll (if you wanted one) because instead you have an actual living baby to take care of, being prevented from going to college/moving out because you're still needed around the house but your younger siblings don't have the same restrictions. THAT is what causes Eldest Daughter Syndrome. Not 'Bruce is bad at communicating/understanding the others so Dick steps in' or 'Dick feels a strong sense of responsibility about the others'.

Pretty niche, but does anyone else have (or have had) thoughts about a Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service inspired DP fic?

Danny and the gang helping the dead move on/fulfill final wishes (for a fee, cause 2008 recession would hit around when they graduate high school, though the gag remains that they never really get paid anyways). Idk, I just love both series and love smushing things together.
