Hello, I’ll rant for two seconds I’m sorry I’m frustrated.

I gave in recently and I went to see the f1 movie. I honestly didn’t expect anything from it. Already knowing that the competent woman who was a technical director had been reduce to a love interest for the Main Character didn’t foresee anything good, but still. Someone offered to pay my place so I went.

I’ll add that it’s totally fine if you like that movie! You may just want to skip my rant then. There will be spoilers and there will be criticism.

For me : Why F1 the movie isn’t a good movie for F1 fans, but beyond that not even a good representation of the sport ?

First of all, let’s say I went to watch the movie with two friends, one who didn’t know much about f1, and she loved it! So that’s it I thought. The core audience isn’t F1 fans. I guess even knowing that wouldn’t have prepared me for what I was about to watch if I’m honest.

My advice to f1 fans who go watch the movie : do it with a friend who knows about the sport as well! That way you can whisper comments to each other and side eyes as you realize this movie sometimes has no idea how the sport it represents works!

So ahem yeah. On that note, I’m a bit baffled that so many F1 fans seem to have enjoyed it. I get that we’re supposed to “turn off our F1 brain” and just enjoy the ride, but I can’t fully separate my passion for the sport from how I experience something like this. If I have to approach an F1 movie with humor just to tolerate the inaccuracies, that already says something about the film’s shortcomings.

If we’re fair to this movie, there were some positives! the race footage looked great, the cinematography captured some exciting moments, and a few scenes had a solid music atmosphere. The movie definitely had a lot of (unused) potential.

Here are the elements that didn’t sit right with me starting by a big one : the women representation is horrendous.

One is a mechanic who messes up and needs a pep talk from a man; the other is a technical director who literally gets her job explained to her… by a man. Women are already underrepresented in F1, and this felt like a slap in the face. It was like the film was saying, “F1 is for men; women are here to cry or be love interests.” That’s not just dated, it’s insulting. Let’s add that the technical director has a romance with her driver, romance that serves to nothing and leads to nowhere so it could as well have not existed, but it still was here. Guess why? Because women = romance.

That I’ll admit is a point that already shaped my opinion a lot about this movie. And it’s a point quite a lot of people don’t care enough about. It’s quite sad to see but we can’t change mentalities anyway.

Even putting that aside, let’s talk about the most terrible aspects of this movie. The comprehension of the sport.

There’s no quali. Ok I guess they didn’t have time to add it. It’s a shame when it’s quite a big aspect of the sport, but we’re not aiming at accuracy anyway. Okay but what about blatant cheating then? Isn’t it wild?

Even more as the cheating is being openly discussed over the radio? Really? I know it’s not a documentary, but when you’re introducing a sport to a wider audience, you should at least represent its core values. Instead, this gives newcomers a completely warped idea of how F1 works. You mean that’s some people’s first introduction to the sport? “Wow this team uses an underdog strategy, they make their driver wait in the pitstop until the leaders of the race arrive and then they block and slow them because blue flags don’t exist in this alternate universe”. I’m not asking for a documentary, but it’s basic rules. How far are we supposed to go to make a sport entertaining to the eyes of others? Should it be entirely to the expense of the sport itself?

And let’s be real, the Main Character would have been banned by the FIA multiple times in like one or two races, not to mention probably fired for repeatedly ignoring team orders. Oh but I forgot, the FIA doesn’t exist in that alternate universe, or they were all in vacations or on sick leave who knows.

I really wanted to like this movie, but there were several moments where I genuinely considered walking out because I couldn’t believe what I was watching. No other film has ever made me feel like that. My non-F1 friend had a great time, and that’s fine, but as a fan, this movie left a really sour taste. To me, this movie doesn’t get nearly the criticism it should be having.

I love Lewis, and I can’t believe he was involved in this movie, I hope he was just a figure head, because many things in this movie are just terrible. This is undignified compared to who he is and to his values. I can’t believe he did much except answer a question or two. Because a movie with plot points like women are incompetent and need men to tell them what to do in a sport that is f1, that has been man dominated for decades and where women are still currently making their place, it’s sickening. And that’s just one of the things that is wrong with this movie.

So yeah it has had potential, it could have been so much better, and it’s a big disappointment.

My opinion doesn’t mean that I’m telling you what to feel about this movie. You are allowed to like it if you do, you are allowed to totally disagree with what I’m saying, but I’ll stand by my words.

I probably forgot many things like the plot being weak the calendar out of order etc but I’ll end the rant there see ya 💗

It's true, i dont talk much about him, but my overall impression is that: he was the funniest bitch

Become a legend on his field, pissed off the goverment, explored the world, made his nemesis raise your kid, had adventures with his friends, and on his dying breath he inspired a whole new worldwide moment and yelled out 'fuck the goverment' as he went. You dont get more Funny Bitch status than that

And i do believe he saw the world goverment and the mistery of the missing century and all, how fucked up that was and decided that a massive revolution was needed, bc fuck that shit

How you fight authoritarianism? Freedom. How you inspire literally the whole world to fight that cause? 1. You give them an icon 2. You use greed in your favour for the less idealistic ones. And boom The Great Pirate Era was born and at the cost of one dramatic execution. So yeah, he planned it all

Also it fucks me up to this day that Rogers died like 20 years ago. We are still seeing the direct consequences of his time, its very very early days on this era

thoughts on c!tommy having a loom bands phase.

YES!

I've had this headcanon for a while but just on the corner of my mind. I was thinking about it since people headcanon him with devoloping sewing or knitting as a habit because of the motion and stuff.

I imagine this could've been something c!tommy had taken a liking to before the smp.

At first he thinks it's one of those bands used for hair or braids until one kid was bragging about the loom band kit they aquired and teaches the others how to use it and gives it away too. It's not something he could afford much mainly because he doesn't really know where to get them so I guess he somehow acquired some bands from other people who was showing off their sets- so basically he'd just have bands and a hook and he'd have to taken turns with the others in using the kit which results in him only knowing how to do the bracelets AND having no pattern in colors while making it cuz he wants to have every color.

He puts little trinkets he finds on the streets along with his loom bands for design and even pick up some stray loom bands he finds and try to make a makeshift hook or kit. Sometimes he tries replicating it with rubber bands because those are easier to find but it doesn't have the same effect. He still wears them though! He does. Proudly. In every wear he goes, his arms are filled with chaos of colors and patterns.

In the period where loom bands loose popularity- he finds an abandoned set for loom bands. Complete with a kit and two bags of the bands, in a box, feels like a gold mine. (There's even an instruction too for different types of things you can do! He was very proud with making the ring ones but he makes the bracelets more because they're easier to wear.)

By the time he got to the smp, there are only few people whom he had given loom bands and even seen him wear it. One of them was c!Wilbur, but he hadn't thought much about it since he didn't know the kid that much when he received it.

The first revolution happens and he never touched it again.

During pogtopia, c!Wilbur sometimes thinks about what happened to the loombands, even the one he had. (It's tucked away in his orange jacket, the one he wore when he first got in the smp) c!Tubbo wore his before the 16th happened. (He figured he better hide it after the incident he had in the podium.) c!Fundy vaguely remembers being given one, he doesn't know whom it's from but it was a ring. He's pretty sure he's hidden it with his old stuff. (Similarly with cNikki, cEret, cJack)

In exile, cTommy picks up knitting and even puts little trinkets he found on the beach with it. (It's familiar, he doesn't know why.)

His arms covered with once bright, but dulled overtime, blue wool of the cardigan. (It feels familiar, he doesn't know why.)

The kit picks up dust deep down the enderchest, just below the bedrock he matches with Techno.

In Utah, cWilbur in his orange jacket, while trying to pick up his lighter in his pockets, instead pulled a loom band. His mind goes back to the boy who's arms were covered in blue wool when he got revived. (It's familiar, he now knows why.)

What the actual fuck

So the collector’s free, and a lot of fanart on their appearance is mostly correct

King freed the collector, and if there was a turncoat it hasn’t been revealed.

So Luz, Hunter, Amity, Gus, and Willow are now in the human realm

After King sacrificed himself to be the collector’s playmate

Eda is now down an arm and the Collector stopped the day of unity, but .... I’m a little scared of what the Collector’s gonna do to everyone on the isles after all the Collector probably doesn’t realize that not everyone is as powerful as him

Luz tricked Belos and gave him a coven badge, and what does the bastard do, he turns into that amalgam monster we saw in hollow mind

I’m curious though, what did Belos expect to be rewarded with when he got to the human realm. Idk but I’m pretty sure that Luz was right that everyone would think he’s got a couple of screws loose. Now he’ll be punished by the Collector, hopefully

Luz almost got turned to stone, and yikes at that, but how are the crew getting back to the boiling isles to save everyone, the portals broken and the closest thing they have to making a new one is either find what initially transferred Belos to the isles or somehow make one in the human realm even though they don’t have Titans blood.

I should’ve known King would sacrifice himself, I mean it was practically obvious with how everyone was pushing him to the sidelines to protect him, and with his connection with the collector but I didn’t and still don’t want to believe it to be true. He’s fucking 8yo, I think, he should be allowed to play like a little kid not fight for survival, non of the main cast deserves to have had to go through what they did

It’s not fair....

I’m sad as well, because it seems that season three was always planned to have the group stranded in the human realm but now most of their adventures in it as they try to get back are going to be scrapped or rushed in order to fit the now shortened schedule.

I regret asking about Luz’s promise to her mom cause I never expected or wanted them to get stranded, and for all we know the show could have more creeps like the one who went after Vee that will definitely notice the sudden appearance of unknowns. In a way I’m just glad that, and it pains me to say this but, king is still in the boiling isles cause we don’t even know if he is capable of leaving, leaving could kill him for all we know.

We still don’t know what Luz’s palisman is nor what will happen next or how Luz’s mom will react to Luz and her friends wounded appearances. Not do we know just what will happen to everyone especially after it being revealed what Belos was trying to do. It’ll most likely end in chaos and probably a hunt for everyone perseived involved to be punished, but that’s only if they are able to rally together at all...

I’m just scared, scared for all characters, who aren’t like Belos and Odalia, and the worst part is it doesn’t seem like Disney will continue this story once season 3 finishes

Which is fucking stupid of them, don’t they see how popular and profitable this show is, or are they just too stubbornly up their own conservative asses to consider continuing. I don’t care what the “official” reason Dana Terrace stated for this forceful shortening, nothing and I mean NOTHING will change my mind that the real reason Disney nipped this story at the bud is because they are too scared to risk having such a show on their platform. They are just too fucking scared of what the Biggots will do to see the good that is this show.

This show has such a diverse cast that will help children feel seen, heck I wish I had this show when I was a kid to tell me that it’s ok to not be cishet, but the biggoted bastards running this don’t care about that, and that makes me want to cry.

Because a part of me will always feel robbed of what we could have had, and there’s a chance that this whole situation will scare other creators from having as much lgbtqia+ rep for fear that they will be snipped as well

I wish their was a way to knock Disney down a peg or get rid of the oil baron people running the company at the moment, because this isn’t right

But I’m not sure if we can, because what can we really do? No seriously I’m asking what can we do to try to change this, because I don’t know. After all they are the ones with the teams of layers, money and manpower, and I have a feeling no matter how many people speak out/boycott Disney, it won’t even put a dent in their pockets because of how much they own and how many people daily consume their products.

All I know is that with the way things are going, at least in the US, it doesn’t look good, and it really makes the world around me more and more inhospitable, and I don’t like it, so if anyone has any ideas on how we can start, hopefully, fixing things let me know. Because... I don’t know

I'm on Twitter and I'm seeing a lot of talk about JK Rowling and her lack of LGBT representation in the HP books and I'm seeing a lot of the usual "why does it MATTER what a character's orientation is? Why can't they just be people." And I decided to type out my response here bc I'm not about to make a long ass thread on Twitter lol.

My response is: it matters bc our relationships whether they be romantic or platonic are a big part of what defines us as people. Our relationships mold us. I mean the whole series centers around relationships: Harry's relationship with his family, the relationships he has with his peers and teachers, his relationship with Ron and Hermione, his LONGING to have been able to have a relationship with his parents. These are all key factors in what makes Harry who he is.

There also wasn't any inherent need for Harry to have a crush on Cho Chang his fifth year, or to fall in love with his best friend's little sister, or for his two best friends to fall in love with each other. But Rowling knew it's a natural part of growing up. It's natural at 15 to have a crush on a pretty classmate. It's natural at 17 to fall in love for the first time.

These experiences shape our lives. And for Jk Rowling to make an entire series filled with many unique relationships be they romantic, platonic, family, or student and teacher, but not have one key LGBT relationship or for ppl to act like representing LGBT characters "doesn't matter" not only does a huge disservice to her fans it's hurtful and uncompassionate.

Actually, there is at least one, from SoN Graphic Novel I haven't’ read any of them so IDK if there is more or if the overall style stays consistent, but that’s basically what a greek trireme is. 

The eyes and the shape of the prow, as well as the ores, are typical throughout all the ancient Mediterranean. It’s also a galley, which is the only type of ship that could sail in the Mare Nostrum, where the quick change and often lack of currents and winds mean the ores are a MUST. 

But I’ve seen several edits already with transatlantic ships as the Argo II, which makes no sense because not only were those designed up from the Reinassance, but they also lack ores and are built to sail ocean currents.
