when I was on ff.net and desperately craving validation, I posted a ‘syoc’ story for eragon because i knew it would get me attention. I ended up not writing more than four or so chapters, but that’s not really surprising. What happened was that after I had chosen the characters I wanted, I got a message from a user who wanted to know I was still accepting characters, and this user had my cousin’s first initial, full last name, and birth month as their username. I was shook, and texted my cousin to see if it was her (it was).
so we accidentally found each other’s ff.net accounts.
then we both moved to ao3, and i don’t remember why, but we both decided that it was for the best that we didn’t tell each other what they were.
fast forward a couple years, and I’m looking over a chapter of a hamilton fic i’d helped edit, and out of the corner of my eye, I see an ao3 username that looks suspiciously like my cousin’s tumblr url. again I text her, and again, it is her.
this story was funnier in my head, but now it’s out here in the world for everyone. anyways i guess the moral of the story is you’ll never escape irl hell
