Sweetheart + aggro shenanigans
Aggro’s routine changed slightly when sweetheart started staying over more often. Milo would stay in bed a little longer when they were over. Leaving aggro wailing on the dresser until he eventually gets so fed up that he takes matters into his own hands.
Jumping from the dresser down to floor and waltzing his irritated ass over to the bed, where he then decides the box spring is his new punching bag. Using the side of Milo’s very nice, and very expensive, comforter as a scratching post. Until Milo groans, kisses his giggling sweetheart, and gets up.
And so aggros mornings have changed. And Milo’s, though the latter is a lot happier about the change in routine than his feline counterpart.
Milo’s a little embarrassed at first, his little guy so vocally grumpy about the situation. Sweetheart reassures him it doesn’t bother them.
And so they come to an understanding between the three of them. Early bed time snuggles are for sweetheart, getting ready time is for aggro.
It works. A new schedule that aggro reluctantly, but eventually, agrees to.
And it’s well enough established that when sweetheart moves in, there’s hardly a difference, at least to aggro.
Milo and sweetheart will wake up and whisper sweet nothings to each other before getting up. Aggro already waiting on the dresser. As sweetheart makes their way to their shared closet, aggro receives a gentle scratch under the chin.
He likes this new part of his schedule.
But one day, when sweetheart walks out of the bathroom, expecting to see their favorite little guys, they’re a little stumped. Aggro is meowing at Milo, still ontop of the dresser, refusing to get on Milo’s shoulders.
“What’s a matter with you?” They can hear aggro meow loudly in response. Milo turns to give his partner a shrug and a look of ‘what’s his deal?’ and sweetheart gives a shrug back as they walk over to the pair.
“Is it stupid to wonder if there’s something wrong with him? Like actually?” He turns his attention back to aggro, giving him a well received head scratch.
It’s a fair assumption. It’s a drastic enough change in behavior, sweetheart joins Milo, giving a worrying glance at the orange tabby as he receives another gentle petting.
And suddenly there’s a weight across sweetheart’s shoulders that’s a little unsteady as it tries to find its balance. And then a steady vibration of purring as aggro gets comfortable.
Milo looks just as shocked as they feel, before giving a snort, scratching behind aggro’s ear, “See, told you he liked you.” He gives the all-too-smug cat a kiss on the forehead before pulling away.
“Maybe now I don’t have to pick cat hair outta my damn food every morning,” Milo laughs as he makes his way out the bedroom and to the kitchen.
