(Freelance) Soton Pride at The Stage Door
As a part of my internship I have been heavily involved in the development of the branding and advertising for Southampton Pride 2016. I created the logo that is based on inspiration from both pride and also the city. The logo features recognisable silhouettes of the city’s most well known buildings and also the iconic rainbow associated with pride and the LGBT community.
The logo works well with other pieces I have developed from this base idea of the rainbow and each piece I have made has the same positive, colourful and exciting feel to them. There has been a lot interest and excitement about this event and you can see this from the social media around the planning of the event.
I have created posters, signs, flyers and social media imagery for the event and am continuing to work on pieces for the event.
This is the beginnings of creating a ‘Pride Guide’ which will be a free guide book to everything to do with the event. This will be the official map for the route that the community parade will use on the day. I focused the detail on the landmarks and roads that will actually be involved in the parade, for example; the parade will go around the Bargate Monument and through Guildhall Square. However, I did add some of the other main roads to make the location make sense where it is within the city.
The colours, type and themes match the promotional pieces I have done so far for the event and so they all go together nicely. The logo makes it easily recognisable what the map is for and the simple layout makes it not over busy and complicated. This map design will go in the Pride Guide.
