If we look at the Greek origin of the word, we can translate psychology as science of the soul.
"Current psychology does not talk about soul and barely about spirit, and if it talks about spirit it means the feelings and thoughts of the human being.
However, it does speak of consciousness and subconscious, but it still does not know that our subconscious contains the experiences of all our past lives. Psychology still does not know the spiritual reality behind these words, because it still thinks materially. As a task of current science, it limits itself to the materially perceivable phenomena."
"Psychology does look at the inner life of the human being, but in order to explain this it still limits itself to causes in the current life, such as social environment, upbringing, society, conditioning, heredity and brains."
Why is revealing your soul color such a big deal? Wouldn't people be able to tell what color your soul is simply by watching you do magic? Like the strings aren't purple but the monocle and every other bit of magic besides the bones is. Then Maestro's magic is blue. So wouldn't people be able to tell from that? Wouldn't they also be able to tell from just getting to know you well since they're linked to personality traits?
Most people who think of the word integrity imagine someone with great moral standards, an upstanding citizen, a good person. Integrity, quite simply, is a word we use to describe someone of very strong character.
In terms of Souls and their abilities, the Integrity trait calls on that character. Quite often...
Integrity Souls run on the time axis. So, for Integrity Souls, timing can be a very, very important thing. Like we've already established, Integrity is often equated to good character. Integrity is a trait that people like to see in others - and a wonderful trait for a leader.
In the end, this trait is all about making choices, and when exactly you make them.
Integrity tends to find...nexus points. Very, very influential ones. People possessing this trait are provided with difficult decisions and choices at the time that whatever they decide will have the most influence possible. Now, that's a lot of pressure for someone to handle! But it's like a passive trait in a video game. It's always active, and the user really has no control over when those moments come.
Now, it would be a little ridiculous if every decision became something that could either ruin a life or turn someone into a millionaire. I imagine it starts small. For example - help someone being bullied yourself, or get the teacher, or don't involve yourself at all?
Assume there is only one outcome for each choice, for the sake of this example. Two options would gain you a new friend, but one leads to a lifelong friendship (not to mention some bruises) and the other would lead to a lovely friendship that would unfortunately peter our after highschool. The third option gains you no new friend, but an awareness of bullying that affects your choices down the line.
Of course, you also have to consider when the decision is made. A non-Integrity Soul faced with these choices may decide to intervene - but just a little too late. They run to get the teacher but by the time they're back there isn't much left to stop. The bully is punished, yes, but the victim is not so grateful, thinking you could have acted sooner. No friendship comes forth.
Integrity means that you are faced with a decision that has the potential to have an incredible influence on your life and the lives of people around you. That potential is maximized by Integrity's place on the time axis, allowing that decision to have the largest possible effect it can due to when the decision is made.
It's part of why it's a more desired trait for someone in a leadership position. Good morals or character and the ability to make hard choices with lots of influence. Of course, there are always the downsides.
They aren't truly downsides, of course, that's not quite the right word. Used correctly, the Integrity ability acts in the users favor. It's more like the dangers of misusing the ability. Like I've said before, the human soul is easily swayed...and monster souls too can be moved or changed in unexpected ways. Particularly when someone is emotionally vulnerable. Souls are open to corruption.
Integrity only works in the user's favor as long as the user acts with - ironically enough - integrity. Character. Someone who has the Soul trait, but acts against that character, will suffer, depending on the severity of the choice they made.
So let's build off of our earlier example. The consequences of that one were in some cases far reaching, but relatively minor. This one, for the sake of illustrating the possible negative consequences of Integrity's abilities, may turn extreme.
Instead of choosing any of the previously mentioned choices, an Integrity Soul decides to join in on the bullying, instead. They make this decision because they are angry at the victim for something that happened previously, and this seems like a good opportunity for revenge. (Any kind of emotional vulnerability or strong negative emotion could potentially has adverse affects on Soul abilities.) The Soul undergoes a kind of backfire - it's trait and abilities are not being used the way they should. The consequences can be dire. Because Integrity doesn't stop the user from making a bad decision at a nexus, the ideal moment in time that will yield the most results.
So a bad decision is made, and the fallout seems to reach on endlessly. They join in just in time for a teacher to come in and end the bullying. Consequence - Alternative school. They meet some kids there that turn them on an unsavory path. Drugs and alcohol and crime and eventually they're left with nothing, because the escort they brought home last night robbed them blind and the lease for their shitty apartment is up and they're sitting on the edge of their lumpy mattress wondering what the hell went wrong.
Now, I know at this point things seem a little ridiculous. After all, one bad decision is not going to ruin your life like that!!! And it may not. But this is an imaginary example. And a warning.
Integrity runs on time. The time to make the decision that could change everything.
I'll be making a post on Soul corruption soon. I really should have posted it sooner, since I believe that it's imperative to know what exactly Soul corruption is and the dangers of it. It's in the works now. I hope that I've interested you with my theories about Integrity. Please message me if you have any questions or would like to discuss more about anything with me in detail. I love the feedback.
Hey Necros seeing as I've been seeing a lot of shipping on here lately I have to ask how does your version of monsters reproduce is it like the others where you take part of one monster's soul and combine it with another monsters part of there soul to create a new monster with your combined soul??
