Been spending some time playing music on the street lately. Not many other places to perform than this right now. It fulfills this need to perform for people that I get sometimes out of blue and it’s both cathartic and therapeutic for me. I’ve felt this since I can remember and I choose it over just about anything else to be honest. People that don’t have this itch to perform will never understand it because it’s not their calling or bliss which is totally understandable. It’s not for everyone. I enjoy interacting with people on the street. Some of them miss experiencing live music as much as I do which is beautiful and human. When I moved to NYC many years ago I ran out of the money I’d saved up within the first month or 2, so if I didn’t have any cash for food as I searched for a job and a room for rent, I’d play on the street until I had enough to get a Felafel Sandwich at Mamoun’s or a slice of pizza at Ben’s in Greenwich village. I guess not much has changed except I have my own apartment with my own bills. Had some fun night last night and Sat in for a tune with @strangemajik duo at @marshallstacknyc‼️ these guys Rock hard! I’m remixing one of his tracks and hope to release it in the near future. I wasn’t able to play more sax because this place like many others is being responsible about social distancing and playing it virally safe, so I packed up my horn and they offered me a drink which I thought was fantastically kind, so If you haven’t checked out Strange Majik throwing down some soul and blues and/or had a burger fresh off the outdoor grill at Marshall Stack, you gotta stop by because you’re missing out on really great outdoor music and food vibes. Great Anomaly Duo gig tonight @canaryclubnyc with @k_magic_keys! We kicked off of right at 6pm planning on some rain and although it came down pretty hard by the time we finished, we had people in the crowd grooving along under the canopies! It’s a very unique time as a performing artist right now in NYC. It really feels wonderful to entertain people and share music with them. It feels like a blessing every time. I still feel that beautifully inspiring creative energy that made me move here. Big thanks to everyone that came out to support live music.
