Currently Reading: The Emperor's Soul by Brandon Sanderson
This is another reread for @logarithmicpanda's rereathon 2026, and I honestly forgot how much I love Shai, our main character, and Gaotona, an advisor to the emperor.
Such a small book that probably packs one of the biggest stories of the Cosmere, in my opinion. Forgers work to rewrite the past of something to make it something new. Their abilities are thought to be a blasphemy to the "normal" way of life. But when the emperor is attacked and in a coma, Shai is told to reforge the emperor. To build him anew. It's so so good! And I love all of the little bits and ways that we can see this world come to life.
I would love to maybe have a follow up to this story at some point of how the emperor is faring, but I highly doubt we'll get that. But seriously, if magic, people skills, and knowing what it means to influence your past to better your future, I recommend The Emperor's Soul.
