recalling sunshine...
Comet Tavern, Capitol Hill, Seattle... I haven’t been here for several years. I’ll have to pop in one of these days... Great memories here in the late 70s and early 80s. I was a few doors north on 10th in the Odd Fellows Hall at And/Or’s Soundwork Studio.
I choosed me a seat n' watched the evenin' sun go down... I was living on Capitol Hill and decided to take a break from a marathon recording session at Soundwork Studio (in the old Odd Fellows Hall at 10th and Pine) and walked down to Pike Place Market and the waterfront. I arrived just before sunset and I did indeed pick a spot on a bench on a pier to watch the sunset on a beautiful August evening in 1982...
I had a bazillion ideas and work at the studio left me with at least a few hundred unconnected snippets... Watching the sunset, the Ferries crossing the sound, the gulls flying around, people coming and going, all led me to realize what my little fragments were about....

Soundwork Studio
Just after our remodel in February of 1982 Soundwork Studio was in a 3rd floor loft above Soundwork Hall. Many kindred souls volunteered and put a lot of time and donated equipment to create this wonderful work place for composers to work.
To name a few: Robert Teeple, Jon Gierlich, Rich Weisgerber, Kim Ramsey. Forgive me if I've forgotten others, this is now 40 years ago.
I spent hundreds of hours here in bliss. We did many classes, I recorded many pieces, and we produced a lot of radio shows for KRAB FM Radio from here.
We shared, we collaborated, we experimented, we created, we performed. Perhaps we didn't move the movement per say, but we were moved. Forever changed by creating and being created...
