some people think that stew is not soup
this is something i have always known. but i have never really realized the implications of it until now. if some people think that stew—stew—is not soup... what else might people think is not soup? chili? cereal? from there it is a slippery slope to chowders, then bisques. and before long we will have people who do not even think broth is soup. broth! society is burning to ashes, and i am helpless to do anything but watch
Sinners is a very important movie to me and I don't know how to describe it but like not once in the description of the movie does it mention the characters being black despite Us having a majority black cast.
It's always this black family or this black kid or this black slave or this black group, That's always the main driving force of the story and there's like no effort put forth otherwise, them being black is the plot, it is the conflict, it is what makes the media interesting and that's it. You'll never hear the same for majority white casts.
Sinners is one of the few movies that I can think of where the characters are black and just exist as black, because we never really get that ever.
And sure it's super important and the story certainly would not be the same without that fact but it's not the only aspect it's multifaceted. There was love and effort and care put into this movie to make it more then just black suffering while still making sure you knew it was there, but it also showed us black living, black joy, black rebellion, black community, black experience, black history. I mean I don't think you can really avoid things being connected to blackness A lot of things are I think some people just like to pretend that they're not. Cough cough
It feels like proper representation and appreciate of blackness without just using black folk out of obligation, I saw a video that said "were tired of seeing black suffering being used as a cash grab" and that is what sparked this post it resonates with what I'm trying to say.
The realest thing I did last night was me reading an opinion about a fictional character and crying because it’s true.
BC WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE’LL BETRAY HIS HOMELAND AND STALK MY ASS TILL WE MEET 800 YEARS LATER AFTER I DIE TWICE. TWICE. If some bitch did this to me I would be pouty and moody like he is too, BUT HE CAN BE SO FUCKING ROMANTIC IT HURTS. STOP HURTING THE WORLD FOR US FUCKER, WE ARENT WORTH IT.
Imagine a cult based on the activity of weekly making a gigant pot of soup, praying to it and then collectively eating it
New theory: Carlos loves wearing his cowboy hat he’s like “yay!! I get to wear my cool hat at my cool job!!” But Soup on the other does not like wearing his and thinks it’s dumb and is a little bit of a kill joy about it.
Scientific evidence supporting this: Carlos can be seen wearing his hat quite frequently. He wears it in his first appearance as a Ranger, during the armored truck bust, bringing donuts to the fire house, and when he and Soup go to see the APD detective, at his father’s grave side, he even brought his hat in to therapy with him. Soup on the other hand is only seen wearing his hat twice. Once during the armored truck bust and once in the press release following the armed car bust (him wearing it here is presumably mandatory). He is seen a couple other times with his hat, but never with it on, even Carlos still has his on. So standing to reason, he always takes the thing off the second he gets the chance.
Is anyone still freaky on here I want to think about freaky ideas and scenarios
Soooouuuppp. I love soup. 🩵
