I FORGOT YOU LIKED SOUP
I'm so sorry, next time I make soup, I'll share it with you because I always make the ones with funny shapes
oh, for real?
i love funny shaped soups. i dislike canned soup (much too salty for personal tastes) but let me tell you-
chicken and stars soup? with the little pasta being shaped- LIKE STARS?
yeah.
me when the chili is hot
IM MAKING SOUPPPPPPP im making chicken and lime soup again :') but a shortcut version bc i dont like celery and i dont feel like chopping a whole damn onion rn
gonna lose my mind
I sent my therapist some of the writing I've been doing, and he fucking sends back a soup recipe.
Have we been working on my constant desire for validation, attention, and affection? why, Yes, we have.
I am both snarling and cackling at this response. This is so goddamn funny.
He's a good therapist, the best I know. And this is a really clever way to send a message.
I asked him if we could work together on getting myself to a place where I don't need other people's praise and validation to feel good about myself. And we agreed that he'd cut me off so that I could stand on my own a bit more, instead of relying on him for stuff.
Believe me, being able to stand on one's own and feel good without clutching on to others for feel good chemicals is entirely possible. But good lord, it takes practice. It's necessary, i'm not going to have people around me all the time, and to be content with myself will be really valuable for future things.
I may love the narrator, but I'm doing my best to shed the toxic traits that he and I share in common.
a fucking soup recipe... unbelievable/pos
Bonus dialogue:
Where do you draw the line at what is considered a soup? Is stew a soup? Is clam chowder... a soup? Is the OCEAN soup???? What stops things from being soup, please, I need to know
dljfdslfjlsfjklsfjd
hmm. fair question, actually
in my (non culinary - not a professional chef here) opinion, stew falls under the umbrella of a type of soup, with the main difference being the extra thick cuts of meat and thicker base. chowder is not soup in a literal sense, but gets that title from me by means of being a 'spiritual successor' to soup. soup came into being far earlier than chowder did. according to google, the first chowder recipe was published in 1751 AD. it's likely that other recipes were available earlier, but soup is much, much, much older. the ocean, being cold, is not soup, but gazpacho.
sea water and gazpacho share something common: i will not drink either. i fucking hate gazpacho, actually. the most important quality to make a soup a soup is warmth. if it is not warm, if it does not fill you with comfort, it's not a 'true' soup. by this logic, hot chocolate with marshmallows is also a soup.
Tell me about soup :D
(cracks knuckles) Bud, I don't know if you know the can of worms you've opened on this one. Besides writing, soup is my other special interest. It's by far, the coziest food to ever exist. It's the perfect thing to eat when it's cold or it's been raining. It comes in a million different varieties, so chances are no one could get sick of it. My favorites are clam chowder, chicken noodle, and tomato basil. It's perfect when served in a bread bowl. Where I live is very hot almost year round, so as soon as it drops below sixty fahrenheit, i'm in the store stocking up with pure joy in my heart.
The best quality of soup is its warmth. I dislike cold soups, like gazpacho. You've missed the point if it's cold. The best kinds of soup are the homemade ones. If someone's an excellent cook and they make soup for me, they've won my eternal affection. Food is an excellent conduit for love, and soup is the best conductor of all. One of the best soups I ever had was made by one of my brothers, who went to culinary school for a few months. Spicy chicken noodle... I still daydream about it sometimes. Food has always been a special passion of mine.
I don't know how to put it into words, but soup feels like love. The way it sits in your chest and stomach warmly after eating it... Time slows, and life is blissful. That's what love is like in my mind as well. Love and soup are cozy. They warm up cold and tired bones. They are nice to sink into. I wouldn't say soup and love are the exact same thing, but they're damned close, in my mind. Making soup for someone is an act of love. A good soup can start the mending process for a broken heart.
(are people actually interested in this? I thought I was meant to be writing headcanons. This isn't a complaint, I'm genuinely confused.)
