Vegan Russian Sour Cabbage Soup
The following healthy foods can be good for gout:
Apple:
Fresh apple is delicious and healthy in it itself, or with a slice of rye bread. But you can try roasted cauliflower with fried chicken and apple spiced with curry powder.
Apple juice is also recommended for gout patients. You can make a hot and spicy apple drink from:
– 1 l/4 cups of 100% apple juice
– 6 cloves
– 10 peppercorns
– a pinch of powdered nutmeg or 2 nutmeg flowers
– 2 star anise
– 1 cinnamon roll
– 1 dl/0,4 cup of grapefruit juice
Heat to boiling the apple juice with the spices, then pour the grapefruit juice in it, and you are ready.
Nettle (Urtica dioica):
Cooked nettle does not sting, but be careful to touch the fresh leaves only in gloves. You can make a tea from nettle leaves, but if you want something more interesting to eat, try to make pizza from spelt flour with olives and nettle topping.
Ground cherry (Physalis edulis):
Eating one ground cherry fruit daily can help to protect one from the symptoms of gout.
Malabar plum (Syzgium cumini):
Both the fruit and the seeds can be used against gout. Wine and vinegar are also made from the fruit.
Sour cabbage:
Sour cabbage enhances the excretion of uric acid, thus prevents gout from developing.
You can make a colorful sour cabbage salad from:
– 50 dkg/17,6 oz sour cabbage
– 1 apple
– 5 tablespoons of lemon juice
– 3 scallions
– 1 red bell pepper
– 3 tablespoons of olive oil
