Sigils differ from Runes, because sigils aren't fixed pre-existing symbols- with set in stone meanings. It's because of this that people say you shouldn't use sigils not of your own making, however I would say such advice lacks/or erases human connection- or empathy. Rather than simply not use it, try to understand it. Try to see what the person was going for, why they chose to create it in that pattern/image.
Nothing is certain, but all is permitted. Not everything will work for everyone, and we shouldn't deal in absolutes. Make of this what you will, but remember there is no one size fits all in magick.
