"Afghan guerrillas, armed and equipped with motorcycles prepare for action with Soviet and government forces, in the mountainous western region of Afghanistan on January 14, 1980. The guerrillas were able to slip in and out of neighboring Iran, where they re-supplied from Muslims who sympathized with their struggle." [source]
I'd like to share a song with you. It was written by czech folk singer right after occupation of his country by Soviets in 1968 and put on the album named Cancer (Rakovina).
With an enormous help of @ritacaroline I translated the lyrics so I could spread them. I love how timeless they are (not a single word would need to be changed for the song to fit in Ukraine "denazification")...
So here we have you,
brothers of Cain bloodline,
messengers of backstabbing night.
So here we have you, brothers,
grandsons of Stalin,
unlike yesterday, no lilacs today.
Well thanks for peace doves made of iron,
and thanks for kisses tasting like bitter almonds.
In gentle landscape faith was murdered,
Crimson rosehips lay on the roadside, mementos of those who have fallen.
Gratitude and warm embraces to you,
for heckling and shooting into children.
And let our homes be your homes.
The witnesses are the cementeries soiled with the stench of lead.
I know it would be fault to spit on memorials.
We are left with hope- as was then till now, we'll stand forever
(Russian) Thanks a lot, brothers usurpers,
thank you very much, we will never forget.

In 1948, the Russians blocked the Western Allies’ railway, road, and canal access to the sectors of Berlin under Western control. The Russians offered to drop the blockade if the Western Allies withdrew the newly introduced Deutsche Mark from from West Berlin. The Western Allies organized the Berlin Airlift (also known as Berliner Luftbrücke, (26 June 1948 to 30 September 1949) to carry supplies to the people of West Berlin. At that time, the West had the courage to defend human life, freedom and democratic values

The Winter War was a war between the Soviet Union and Finland. It began with a Soviet invasion of Finland on 30 November 1939, three months after the outbreak of World War II, and ended three and a half months later with the Moscow Peace Treaty on 13 March 1940. Despite superior military strength, especially in tanks and aircraft, the Soviet Union suffered severe losses and initially made little headway. The League of Nations deemed the attack illegal and expelled the Soviet Union from its organization.
