question: why not just use the tabletop roleplaying system developed for dragon age?
hi! basically there were a couple of reasons. the first is just that i’m much more familiar with d&d rules, and i really like fifth edition. it runs really smoothly & there’s a great balance between combat & rp. the second is that i looked into the official dragon age tabletop & played a couple of games & i just. didn’t like how it runs? i know a lot of people like it & i’m not saying it’s bad or anything, i just prefer the way d&d works. the different values of dice give you much more precision, apart from anything else, & i found the ‘stunts’ mechanic a little unwieldy & slowed combat down a lot.
& tbh there was a third reason, & that is i really wanted this campaign to be a chance for people to explore stuff not really touched on in canon. so i knew i’d have to make stuff up anyway (one of our party is a half-elf, half-dwarf), so why not just homebrew the whole thing so we can tailor it to what we want?
that was basically my thought-process, lmao. again, i’m not saying the official da tabletop is bad at all, i’m just more comfortable with & prefer d&d.
