“Little bird…” Balem spoke, removing his hand from your back and bringing it up to your face. He hovered it over your cheek, fingers hesitant on touching you this time. But, as the other dancers bowed to each other in thanks for the dance, he simply cupped your cheek, pulling you forward and pressing his lips upon your forehead in a soft kiss.

I just made the startling discovery that the titular character in the Bruce Coville book Space Brat (something I read over twenty years ago, which... disturbs me) is from the planet Splat, and that his race are called Splatoons. Huh.

When I was a kid, I really loved the "Space Brat" book series, but I only had like three or four of them and I'd read the same ones over and over but I never knew what happened to Space Brat after the last book in my possession.

I kept them into adulthood for nostalgic purposes, but one night while I was away, my mom took them and gave them to children.

I'll never know what happened to Space Brat and now, just like me, there's a child out there wondering, "But then what happened?"
